92 dakota 2wd v8 needs trans $500 obo or trade *sold
this is my sister's truck, but i've been working on it for her.
- strong 318ci/5.2l engine
-very little rust, the worst places can be seen in the pics below.
-brakes have about 75%+ life left on them
-new serp belt and brake lines from the prop valve back to the axle
-212,552 miles on it, but still runs great
-seeps a little oil, but doesn't drip
-dent in front left corner of box, outside in front of wheel. you can see it in one of the pics
-needs a transmission. that's why she's getting rid of it. the transmission failed, and tore up the casting inside the case where the rear one-way clutch splines to it. so i got a replacement transmission with 90k miles on it and rebuilt it for her (i'm state certified in auto trans). this trans goes with it. however, thanks to the brilliance of a parts supplier, the wrong torque converter was shipped and now will not come back off due to being a fraction of an inch larger. i could keep messing with it, except my sister does not have the money for any additional work. so at this point, we're trying to get the money from the trans work back out of it and that's it. currently, there's no trans in it. therefore, it will have to be towed away.
-needs some exhaust welding at the cross pipe due to bolts what wouldn't come apart at the flanges.
-from what she says, it sounds like the right front caliper was starting to stick. may just need the slide pins lubed, haven't looked into it.
-tires are mismatched, the two on the rear have decent tread but the right rear is the spare (full size). the front ones hold air, but don't have much tread left.
-could use a new radiator. doesn't leak, but missing fins
i'll be getting pics up in the next few minutes. as for price, looking for $500 obo. had one offer in the range, but now can't get a hold of that guy. also would consider trades for a running vehicle, as long as it doesn't require much to drive and stop.
located in comstock park, mi about 8 miles north of downtown grand rapids.
