Default Dana 30 gear change

i have two d 30's, an older one w/ 3.55's and the smaller axle joints, and a 99 w/ 3.07's and the bigger axle joints(and better brackets on the housing). My buddy told me to stick the 3.55's into the 99 housing, b/c of my bracket condition issue. I am just wondering what is involved with this, gear set uop wise etc, I am prob going to get help doing this, and plan on picking up a master rebuild kit for the axle. just lookin for some tips/ suggestions to go along with this.

My guess is the older one is set up for leafs. If that isn't the case then you should just put the axle with 3.55s under your Jeep and swap all of the newer bigger & better stuff over to it.
