will a 98 1500 360 interchange with a 97 318?

Snocross2xtremes is doing something like this with a 360/318 swap and he ran into flywheel issues. We were discussing it on Pirate for a bit. I don't know what tranny you have since you did not identify a tranny in your "tranny question" and you asked if the motors will swap in place of each other, but if there are different flywheels, you may find that there are different flexplates and/or convertors.

I would PM Snocross and ask him what he was doing to see if its applicable to what you're doing. He may have some useful info for you.

Pre 1996 models used different converters, one with a weight (360) and one without. In 1996 they used a 90 flywheel, one for the 318 and one for the 360, and one torque converter.

That may explain the issue he ran into. I think one of the motors was a pre-96 360 and he wanted to put it in front of a post-96 1500's 3550. Thanks.
