Default Synthetic Trans Fluid?

I have a 97 Ram as a tow rig. It has 126,000 miles on it. The trans was rebuilt twice already, the last rebuild was about 10,000 miles ago. It was rebuilt with a shift kit and supposedly heavy duty parts.

My question is would synthetic trans fluid be a good idea? I do a lot of towing with the truck and would like this trans to last as long as possible.

And what trans fluid would you recommend? Any experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

ATF +4 is mostly synthetic. Buy the stuff directly from the dealership, just make sure it is Mopar fluid. I'd recommend using that.

I have Amsoil in my 727TF in the Waggy that I just had rebuilt.

If you are worried about burning up a tranny while towing, get a tranny temp gauge installed so you know what is going on in there.

I was thinking about a trans temp guage. I can get 9602 (ATF +4) from work for nothing. So should I just run that and change it more often, since I can get it for nothing?

If it was rebuilt 10K miles ago, it probably already has ATF+4 in it, I don't even think you can buy ATF+3 anymore. YOu can buy some things that are compatable with ATF+? up to 3.

and you should either change your trans fluid often or never at all.

X2 on the gauge though, and if your trans ever gets hot, you need a fluid change.

you are pissing your money away if you change your oil every 3K miles if everything is in good working order.
