I disagree. My older sister used to kick my ass. Id hit her as hard as i could, until I got bigger than her.

then i made fun of her for being adopted.... im going to hell.

I agree with FF. Hitting your sister when she is older or bigger don't count as hitting a girl.

I still like the beat them with a log idea. It was the best I could come up with on short notice.

Dave, are you seriously not going to let them out on Halloween?

I would punish them another way but still let them go- it's family fun tradition. They'll remember this when they are older and they'll put you in a crappy nursing home. Paybacks are a bitch

I would make them stay home and help pass out candy. Then for the last 45 mins of trick or treating I would let them out. That way they think they aren't going out and it's a little cruel to watch their friends come over and get candy.

Either that, or let them go out then make them pitch everything when they get home.

My gym teacher used to bring us up front and make us take off a tennis shoe and then bend over so he could whip ass with your own shoe. It only happened to me ONE time. Everything is different now. Be careful

I did ask both of them how many times I had to warn them if they misbehaved and what the consequences would be.
I do feel guilty. I told them I wish we could have gone trick or treating, but if I went against my word I would be concerned that you would have less respect for your mom and I.

It is all good now. My son totally blames my wife.

The worst thing to do is threaten and not stick to your word. If you say your going to do something, do it. If you keep telling them your going to do something and you don't do it, you just reinforce the fact that your words mean nothing. It will get worse as you keep doing it. I used to tell my wife this and I told her that they would be stealing her cigs, money and be calling her a bitch on the way out the door. She became a believer. I usually get the best results when I'm a prick about some things. Too bad it works this way but thats the way it is. Your son blames your wife because you are now perceived as the tough one. No use in messing with you. Your standing your ground.
