Default CLOSED: Some people were asking...

Amendment No. 18 of 2007
By authority conferred on the Director of the Department of Natural Resources by Section 504 of Act No. 451 of the Public Acts of 1994, as amended, being section 324.504 of the Michigan Compiled Laws and in accordance with R 299.671 and R 299.922 of the Michigan Administrative Code, the Director of the Department of Natural Resources orders that the following order of the Land Use Orders of the Director shall read as follows:

8.3 Certain state-owned lands, prohibited conduct.
Order 8.3. In the event of a statewide governmental shutdown commencing on October 1, 2007, a person shall not enter, use or occupy any of the following described state-owned lands or facilities, as posted:

(1) Any designated shooting range, except Island Lake RA shotgun ranges.
(2) Any designated campground.
(3) Any state park or recreation area day-use area, outdoor center or cabin area.
(4) Any state-operated, developed marina facility.
(5) Any boating access site.

This order shall be effective until governmental operations are resumed as determined by the Director.

This amended order shall be posted on or after September 28, 2007.

Issued on this 28th day of September, 2007.

Rebecca A. Humphries
Director

Due to the partial government shutdown, several services of the Department of Natural Resources will be affected. Here is a partial list:

State parks, state forest campgrounds, state recreation areas and state-owned marinas are closed. Full refunds will be issued to campers who have reservations for days the parks, recreation areas or marinas are closed due to the partial state government shutdown.
Archery deer season will open on Oct. 1.
DNR-operated deer and bear check stations will not be open.
Hunting and fishing license sales online and at retailers will function as long as the state's computer servers remain functional.
DNR field offices, Operations Service Centers and visitor centers are closed.
Waterfowl hunting season will open Oct. 6. However, if the partial shutdown is still in effect, there will be no staff available to run the draws at managed waterfowl hunts.
The DNR will not issue burn permits.

They dont mention cutting wood on state land which is a big thing up north this time of year . You are suppose to get a 20 dollar permit but obviously thats not an option at the moment .

They dont say you cant go get your wood though . Ah every thing will be back up next week any way .

The state computers/servers will be up and running, but with a limited staff. Therefore, if there are any issues, the licenses might be on the low end of getting fixed right away.

A deal has been reached for the most part, and now the senate and house have to actually vote on the bills. But, a major snafu just took place in the Senate (it's 4 a.m) so not sure what's going to happen if they can't get enough votes on this particular piece of legislation.

As it stands, if the deal goes through as agreed to: 4.35 income tax, and start charging sales tax on some services like dry cleaning and haircuts for example. But, we'll see....we still have 20 hours to go.

Isn't it nice to know we elect a bunch of rich procrastinators to run our state even further into the ground?
