Default How in the F do you change a YJ/CJ door handle Pix added

The exterior paddle on a full door. I have a new handle and the panel is off. I it doesnt make sense to me, cant even get the clips that hold it on to budge. Anyone do this and have some advice?

I believe there is just a spring clip on the inside holding it. It's been awile since I had my CJ

It is a pita, but you need more persistence. Getting the wedges back in is even worse than removing them. Also if you tap the wedges back in BECAREFUL otherwise you will break off those stupid fucking spot welded tabs right the fukc off. Then you will have to disassemble it, weld the fucking tabs back on, and reinstall the fucking piece of shit handle.

Yah I got it out and all the while I was thinkin how hard its gonna be to get back together. I think this is probably the most frustrating thing I have ever done. Thanks for the help and tips. otherwise I would probably get violent and break it while reassembling.

I really dont see why they couldnt have just put some bolts to the outside or inside to hold it on, its not like there arent already a crapload of bolts present on wranglers.:miff:

had to do this to the drivers side, and it sucked, i think i may have taken the glass out but i dont remember...?

ah yes, I too remember this not so fondly. On the positive side, the new one you just bought to replace the old one will break in a few months so you get to do it all over. I ended up sellign my full doors to end the madness.

I got it done, kinda half assed puttin the tabs back in since Im sure Ill hafta do it again someday.
