Call animal control, you don't have to put up with that.

People should learn to control their dogs. If it crossed the property line I'd shoot it. Do someone a favor in the future and teach the owners a lesson.

in defense of pitbull owners everywhere (i dont own any dog but i am a big fan of the bull breeds like bull terriers especially but also pitbulls, and stafordshire bull terrier) its not the dogs fault. Its the owners. Your terrier is also a little fighter. Heck skooterbuilts little yorkie is a bad ass killing machine its in terriers blood to be fiesty and gamie and go after stuff. If your dog is intact/not fixed and his dogs are intact then fuuugetaboutit.

Sorry to hear abou the . Dont blame them for merely being a maligned breed. pits are not bad dogs ijust wanted to say some of the nicest dogs i know are pits, but many jackass' who because of there inbred poor white trash, or thug wanna be nature are attracted to pits for stature, and then train them to be timebombs.

I would have no problem putting a shovel to the head or shooting it with a 12 gauge if it was a wild out of control dog of any breed in my yard. (when i was little two huskies came in my yard and ripped apart my brothers bunny rabbits cage and killed poor cotton rabbit right in front of us.) You gotta protect your kids and critters if they are unrully dogs.

Good luck getting any help from the city of detroit

Its just a pet peeve of mine to hear pits be called out as bad dogs.

If you got kids the Jackrussel is the least of your problem. heck i would have a gun on me all the time if my neigbhors had out of control dogs that are as powerful as pits are.

what he said.......

I have 2 APBT's best dogs everywhere. They get along with my brother-in-laws boxer, my friends male APBT but NOT my aunts smooth coat terrier thing. It's all in the raising and the care of the dogs. Both of mine have been through beginner and intermediate obediance training.

Just to clear up some things. Why are they out of control? Where they barking in their yard? Did they jump the fence? What exactly did they do?

sorry to hear about your problem. I have taken care of many a pit-bull and all have been very very good dogs, tolerable of little kids, personable, hell they hardly bark and shower affection. Dont blame the breed.

If the dogs are out of control (read concerns above) there are other options than just shooting it, that would cause even more neighborhood than pre-emptive and proper action.

Shoot the owners, not the dogs. The dogs can be retrained. The owners are stuck that way. It just sickens me that if there were 2 crazy Goldens next door that were snarling and obviously trying to kill your dog, you would never make the post. Any dog is capable of biting and will bite under the correct circumstances. Statistics continue to prove that banning pit bulls does nothing to reduce dog bites or dog related deaths. Unfortunately, stupid people continue to push breed specific legislation, even when the AKC and the veterinary association are all against such legislation. Did you realize the dog that just won the Westminster Dog Show would be banned in the entire province of Ontario, and many places in the United States and would be put to death in many of these places if found. If you want to make legislation that makes a difference, make it illegal for stupid people to reproduce or own dogs.

Please do not assume that I would not have posted if it was another breed of dog! My little guy is old and was born criple, was fixed as a pup, he runs and hides when the wind blows. I personally have no problem with pitbulls, just these two pitbulls. My wife is afraid to go out and get the mail, because she is worried they may jump the fence on her. By the way they came through my fence, jumped at it until they got a board to pop loose. No big deal, just another reason I'm puttin my house on the market.

i think people should be banned from owning animals period if they are found to abuse and starve pets, neglect it or deny vet attentions etc. For some reason government loves punishing everone, including ENTIRE breeds and responsible breeders and family owned and loved dogs. i never heard of anyone who abused animals, or trained them to be visious etc and really really had the book thrown at them. As far as i am concerned they could levy fines and punishment 6-8 times more than they are. To many people are cheap and think animals are free and disposable and it makes me SICK ! i AM TOTALLY against breed specific legislation, if people are found to be using dogs to fight they should get bond like a murder like a million bucks or more to bond out. The prosecutors do not get tough with dog fighters, its bull crap. Why cant we just ban some PEOPLE from owning any critters instead of taking good dogs and making them illegal. Why cant we jsut have leaders that can use reason.

I cant believe im defending the breed (Ive never met a pit that wasnt terribly mean) However, a few years ago, my dog, and myself were attacked by 2 springer spaniels, and a beagel. I killed the beagel with my hands, and fucked up one of the springers pretty good. My dog, (also a springer) is a puss and wouldnt even defend himself. I had to get rabies shots and stiches, and my dog had to get his anus stitched back together (For some reason the other dogs were attacking my dogs ass?) The dog owners tried to press charges against me, however the dogs were in my yard when they attacked so the charges didnt make it to court. Had I had a firearm I would have killed all three. I still see the two springers every now and then, and being that they are kept in a 10'x10' cage 24 hours a day, seven days a week, they are extremely viscious.... Animal control wont do anything about it though... as long as they have food......

yeah, thats my story....

I had this same issue with a neighbors and I took care of it with my paintball gun. That day I unloaded my hopper on him was the last day I say him in my yard. I didn't have any problems with the law or the neighbors since I did it. Plus the dumb dog is still alive. I hope I get to shoot It again it was kinda fun.

lil story......couple a guys used to come by the bar i worked security at, they had this beauty of a red nosed pit bull named Ginger, she was the most well behaved dog i ever saw or met, she had a lil fight in her though, but she also under stood commands just fine..even the commands i gave her and i wasnt her owner just her chosen buddy i guess..

one day i had a guy give me a hard time when i asked for his ID, i didnt realize it as she was next to me laying at my right foot...but when he had mouthed off she had stood up, bristled every hair on her lil body and bared them teeth, but never made a sound..looked mean as hell .. figured out she was acting up when i looked up from the guys ID and his eyes was a fixed on ginger and he was backing away, hands in the air, begging me to call off my dog.. was funny as hell when i pointed out the owner was in the bar drinking and the end of her lease was just tucked in my pocket, if she wanted him she could have him...he decided to leave and she just layed back down and went to sleep...didnt mind all the kids who used to come up to her and pet her and pull at her at all either...very well behaved...

the owners offered her to me before i moved up here as they had another dog and the land lord was only going to allow them one pet, but i couldnt afford her food and maintenance at the time...still think i made a mistake by not taking her..one of these days i'll find another like her and i wont make the same mistake...

Grifter...

On my job working at peoples homes i meet several hundred dogs per year. I spend all day in peoples homes and there dogs follow me around, i get to know ALLOT of dogs. I am telling you pits are not bad dogs, they are great dogs.

Pits are "designed" bred to be good fighters, as all terriers are originally vermin dogs. A pit is just bigger terrier crossed with bull dogs, they arent some strain of devil spawn killer dog. :miff: The american staffordshire terrier (aka the pit bull) is the american version of the stafforshire terrier (basically brought over by poor irish peeps) its got longer legs and is bigger. The staffordshire terrier is one of the most popular dogs in england and it is called the nanny dog. Yes the nanny dog, because the breeds nature is so kind and tolerant of kids and loves humans. Only if its abused or not socialized do they become mean. Its not there nature. Pits love people, and the love makign people happy.

Anyone who thinks pits are bad dogs is very very very mis informed and has only had a bad experience or is a scardy cat or belives what the hype worry warts at the networks tell them. They dont understand dogs, breeding, socialization or the nature vs. nuture theroy. Embarassingly miss informed.

In my life i have been attacked by two dogs. Both poorly socialized Dachunds, one by a single lady who never took him out of her home, and the other was an old couples dog. Both dogs were terrified of anyone in there home or strangers. Dachunds are little killers vermin dogs of the hound family but again they are two work FOR humans. All dogs naturally love man.

Do you see a connection with the little dogs that attacked me? One they were people that were not active so they wanted a little inactive lap dog, just as easily could have been a pomerian, a chiuhuha or pug. Point is they are shut ins and not active and were attracted to little dogs, a great dane is not a good dog for 80 year old, or a huskie that needs to walked 6 miles per day. Whats my point? Unfortunatley pits are tough looking, as well as really tough dogs, and they are great dogs for a coward, a drug dealer who needs wild dogs to fend off the cops to buy time to flush his drugs, etc etc. They are a great family dog mis used. Ohh one more thing, the poor immigrant irishmen that brought over the stafforshire terriers from ireland and bred it into our modern day pitbull, kept the dogs in the house and it was a family dog, as well as a fighting dog. They would fight the dogs, and the dogs would release when told and fight when told, then the next day be at the house with the owners kids. They aren't "crazy" mindless killers.

Canon is a Strafforshire Terrier and then Jade is a Rednose. They can be lapdogs if you let them by the way, just ask my wife.

Here is a little history lesson of dog fighting.

These dogs are very animal aggressive since have been bread to fight and must be socialized at a young age with many different dogs and cats to stop that aggression.

They are not aggressive towards humans until the last 25 years of so and that is because of bad breading and bad owners (many you see in the "hood" for example) In the past when dog fighthing was a "gentalman's sport" the respctive owners would wash each others dogs before the match to make sure they weren't greesed or have any unnatural advantage. During this washing period if the Pit snapped at the other owner then it was put down to stop any human aggressive traits in further breeds.

I love my pitts (canon likes to get lumped in since it makes her feel like a bad ass to be called a pit :D) and have done extensive research on the breed so I am well educated when an argument happens with some dumb ass on how they are horrible dogs and need to be shot.

I love my dogs if you can't tell!!!

The American Stafordshire terrier is actually a great dog. Personaly, I prefer American Bulldogs though. "Pitbulls" came into being because of some assholes who wanted to make cheap entertainment and a few bucks.
