Default West Branch Sat 10-6

I went to West Branch Sat to go grouse hunting about 1:00 pm dog decided it was to hot to hunt or he is to old so I decided to do a little trail riding on the ORV route off of Dunham lake rd. I was in stock 85 4runner so just a slow tour thru the woods. I had to air down to make it up the 1st part of camel back 40 psi did not cut it in the deep sand. When I pulled in to the sand pit the route runs thru it was a total mess. It looked like local kids had been there the night before partying there were beer and liquor containers all over the place a fire still burning with the remains of tires and a gas can in it. I spent about an hour and a half cleaning the area up. I filled the back of the 4runner with car parts, bottles, cans and other assorted garbage. When I got home I filled one trash can with junk, filled recycle bin with bottles and cans that could not be returned and took enough returnables back to pay for 2 bags of groceries. There is still broken glass and other crap around the fire pit out there so be careful. While cleaning up the area I found both copies of some locals registration. Should I be a nice guy and send it back to him?
I have nothing against hanging out and partying. I have done more than my share but the number one rule was to leave a place better than when you got there. If we want to continue to have places to play we need to take better care of them.

I would send it to them with a nice note saying not to worrie that you cleaned up the woods and put their fire out for them. and hopfully the next time they may save a little time in their life to help keep things clean them selves next time. Then sign it with a dig DNR sticker.

My phone does not work to well out there. Besides you were probably bowhunting and I don't think Fred would help with that to much. Going to go to GR this weekend to do some fishing/hunting/kayaking and visit Founders for the Harvest festival.

Partying is one thing but stupidity is a disease that needs to be irradicated.

if it was just leaving a mess I would say maybe cut them some slack and just send it back with a stern note saying some BS about an investigation is pending and then sign it local DNR office just to make them worry but the fact that the dumb assess were burning tires and left the fire going during an extremely hot spell is just not acceptable. I think you should post the name online and let one of the local DNR boys who monitor this site pick it up.

that way atleast if you need to justify it with yourself you technically did not turn them in.

I would hate for one person to take the blame. He may not of had anything to do with the fire or the mess. I am going to mail it back with a note.
