My wife's father passed away and she gave me about half of his insurance to invest. Being greedy, I bought a little place on two acres in Luzerne. It's right on Big Creek (my backyard) I put my Blazer there, I have a hammock to look at the water from, a little tractor to cruise around on, and a liquor store and a bar close enough to drive the tractor to.

It makes my crappy life melt away the minute I hit the Zilwaukee.

Odd my aunt and uncle had a place there. They just sold it a year or two ago. Gravel quarrie to one side. 40 acres split by the road

West Branch is way too far... Plus the only people I know there are psychotic, crazy, and just plain weird. (no, names will not be mentioned.)

Let me know next time you're up here, maybe we can swing by there to at least look the place over, and look into mortgaging.

It's suitable for year-round living, right?

We have a little family log cabin on a lake in Marcellus. The grandparents own about 600 acres that surround the property and it had been in the family FOREVER!!!! Man, what I wouldn't give to be able to make the lil guy a huge motocross track down there!!!

That's part of the reason we don't have a place up north. We live down here on the lake full time.

Nothing like sitting by the water having a cup of coffee before work every day.

Oh so true. I don't mind the drive. I look forward to it. My wife get out of work and on the road by 5, stop for dinner and get to the cabin by 8:30-9. Cabins are a labor of love. If you don't enjoy it, don't buy it (wife included).

I'm up by Gman, log cabin just around the corner from the Hideaway bar (most snowmobilers know where that is), up the road a little from Motorcylemans lot on Little Twin lake.

Running up this weekend to cut firewood, eat some good food, drink some cold beer. Nothing better than a coffee on the porch watching the leafs turn color.

I agree, that's why I have a cabin on wheels. Friday evening grab a couple clean pair socks, some hotdogs, Rum/Coke jump in the motorhome and head for the State Forest to camp for free. I can be in the bush with my Jeep in less than 3 hrs....

We have a lot @ Silver Lake that is between the voucher center & DAR. Taxes are low because we have a 5th wheel. When the trailer starts to need work I sell it & buy another that's newer. We go there almost every weekend til school starts.

Parents have a cabin on Drummond Island, quarter mile from a public sandy beach. Trails are close, and area to store stuff. Plus its only two hours from home
