Default The Explanger

Well sort of.
Friday night ran into the problem of the engine/TTB crossmember. So instead of swapping every thing into the ranger i decided to take another route.
The pics kinda tell the route i went.

Thats only after two days of work. I have to build new rear cab mount. I still have to get the tranny and T-case in yet. As far as the bed I have to figure out what i'm going to do yet.

F the bed. All you are going to do is smash it. Do what cracker did on his ranger and just tube the rear.

Looking good. I hate people that can get so much done in so little time. My XJ has been in the garage for 8 months, and all I have gotten accomplished is putting it on jackstands.

Looking good, you guys are definitly motivated.

A flat rack with a tool box is what I had on my first wheeler and worked well. Once the drivers compartment is through an obstical, there is very little to worry about in the back as far as body damage.

I see Chesters dash even made the move over. Looking good. I agree with flames...ditch the bed and tube it like I am going to do with Rbucket.

yes the Explorer Frame is on the recieving end of a Ranger Cab. The explorer was undamaged other then just the body. So after realizing that the 2wd engine crossmembers are different then the 4wds and the crossmember would have to be replaced. It was decided it was easier and cooler to put the ranger cab onto the Explorer Frame. Ranger cabs have 6 body mounts, and the front 4 match that of the explorer and Bronco 2's so only 2 brackets need to be fabbed to make the swap work.

We got it fired up tonight, and backed it out of the garage. Man it smoked bad. I have to replace the spark plugs cus they are probley fouled. All that left to do is the front drive shaft, make rear cab mounts, and wire up some tail lights. I'm planning on having it at the last Bear Swamp.
All the smoke form firing it up

The progress is phenominal. And it looks awesome! Is it me or is the front axle in the far back of the Ranger wheel well? Gonna do some trimming? It looks like you even saved Chester's hood.
