Unhappy axle

can you take the front and rear axle of a 77 jeep renagade and put theme under the leaf springs to add hieght. if so what is involved.

wow, yeah we need to work on your "where to post" abilities.....


But, what you want to do is commonly called SOA or Spring Over Axle.

This isn't something for the novice, it includes welding, cutting, lengthening driveshafts, modifying steering and correcting drivetrain angles.

If you look on pirate 4x4 or do a google search there should be tons of info and pictures on how to accomplish this.

As well as on this board there are several people that can help when you get farther into it.


Now the SOA will lift your jeep, but if you re-use the stock leaf springs you can run into major spring wrap issues resulting from the worn springs.

Where do you live in Michigan? There are alot of us with a spring over axle setups. I'd me happy to show you how it looks when it is done.

But on a serious note. Thats how my CJ was lifted. If you have a welder and some tools like an angle finder its not a bad way to lift the older rigs.
