Default Nissan Pathfinder?

Anyone have an opinion on them? I have a chance to buy a 1995 with 99000 miles for 4500. I am more interested in a XJ, but ran across this. It looks like it needs a little work, probably exhaust and brakes. Something feels a little odd underneath, I can't tell exactly; when you stop and start it just feels odd, like a u-joint or trans mount or something.. I looked around underneath and didn't see anything obvious. But the body is immaculate.

Thanks Fullthrottle, I was thinking it was a little high. But the bluebook is like 5000 (I know that doesn't mean crap), but people like to pick that number and stick to it.
I would be way farther ahead with a Cherokee, I have taken those apart and put them back together. I don't know if I feel like learning how to fix a Nissan (but I would be doing the work myself).

We have a 04 and it is nothing but a headache. Trans does not stop dripping, it is going back to the d-ship tomarrow morning. Damn $35,000 suv and nothing but shit. Thats my 2cents from experience.

This one has a weird feeling anyway. It's hard to explain, when you stop it feels like the trans is still pushing a little bit, then it kinda "thunk" stops. Like a lockup converter isn't unlocking right away??

At least if it was a XJ, I would know if something was wrong, or if it's supposed to do that!

Yeah, I say go for an XJ. You can get a sililar year and miles for probably around 3k if you look hard enough. then you've got a little $$ for lifting...

I had an 89 2 door. 3.0v6, 5-speed. It was solid enough, and pretty good off-road.

it was a nice truck. It had 190k when I sold it to a group of guatemalans that had to drive back to guatemala. I got 2200 for it, in 1998. It always ran great.

I'm not sure which year they switched to unibody, but I wouldn't get one of those. I always thought they were kick-ass when they were boxy looking.

the timing belts are a BITCH to replace. I didn't have the means to do it at the time, I think I paid $400 to get it replaced. I've had 3 nissans total. All were rather strange to deal with mechanically, but they always ran forever.
