Default Union files court order to stop release info about drunk/high firefighters that died.

Union says EVERY FIREFIGHTER is a hero, even if their on cocaine, and drunk on the job.

Maybe they need to read this thing called the constitution.

I'd have to do a shot and a couple fat lines before I ran into a burning building.

That kinda makes perfect sense when you think about it . . . . to all firefighters who run into burning buildings!!

.27 is pretty wasted. at that level of drunk its not that surprising he died. was he a hero, maybe. was he a danger to his fellow firefighters by being hammered? i think so.

What were those guys thinking? Putting yourself in harms way is your business, but being responsible for others' well being and showing up in that condition is flat out wrong. Then the union wants to defend them?!

I wont try to defend these firefighters. I do however see things from a different point of view. Watch kids die and be powerless to help, see humans that look like marshmellows at the camp fire, spend day after day dealing with devistation.....Did the department know of any issues with these folks? Was a program in place to help prevent this from happening? Were they ever offered any critical incident stress debriefing? I don't condone there actions, but I am at least in a position to judge. Sitting at a computer or at a desk all day does not put you in a position to understand the hell that they may have seen and lived.

By the way Kelly, way to piss on the memories of these men. Did they make a mistake, yes. Does this mean that they are not hero's, ask any of the people that are alive today because of them. Delete this before you look like an idiot to everyone.

I found 2 instances of the word hero in the link you provided. what one is from the Union?

Anne Cahill, the wife of Paul Cahill, could not be reached for comment. WCVB-TV reported last night that she said: "I hope this isn't true. My husband really died a hero."
Quote:
The two veteran firefighters were the first members of the Boston Fire Department to die in the line of duty since 1994. Thousands of white-gloved firefighters from across the country attended their funerals last month, and Governor Deval Patrick and Senator John F. Kerry were among those who paid tribute to two men praised as heroes.

Love the firemen, hate the police. Typical. I've been shot at, watched my friend get murdered and seen the worst of humanity. Would you say that about cops too?

Here it is:

"The Boston firefighters' union sought the injunction from the judge after learning yesterday morning that the television station intended to report on the autopsy findings."

That means, The union wanted this covered up. All firemen are considered hero's by most. If it was let out that these guys were cokeheads, and absolutely HAMMERED on the job, then they would lose the hero title.

Any time ANY public servant is in the wrong on the job, it should be easily accessible. Sorry, these guys are not hero's to anybody.

Websters:

he·ro
–noun, plural -roes; for 5 also -ros.
1. a man of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities.

Where is the word hero or is this just your anti union spin? Nevermind, we'll just let everyone read it and come to their own conclusion.
