Two close-out panels added tonight--

Just heard the news - OBummer '08

[New] powerplant getting torn down and prepped for installation

350, forged flat top pistons, 1.94 valve heads, going to be adding an air-gap intake, either pocket porting the heads, or adding my set of 2.02 heads after porting, adding comp cam & lifters, cloyes timing set, MSD distributor, 750 double pumper, and old set of headers. Should be ~325-350hp

Default Update 1/5/09, plus year in review

I know I should be working on swapping axles in the diesel tow rig I picked up, but I really wanted to get my hood mounted on the K5.

Also started porting my set of 2.02 heads, I decided that I'd be porting a set of heads anyway, might as well go with the bigger set.

Year in review:
  • 10 point cage built
  • top chopped
  • front links built
  • steering built
  • coilovers mounted
  • dash built
  • console added
  • Audi S4 seats installed
  • 12 gallon fuel cell replaced stock 31 gallon tank, plumbed with stainless flex line
  • original 350 pulled, started buildup of new 350

Oh, and we had triplets...

Thanks for the compliments :) It's been a crazy year, sometimes the garage is the only way to keep my sanity. I think that's what they're for though...

Next up is mounting the fenders- I pushed the hood back into the cowl area where the original close out panel would be, so the fenders will be moving back as well. I'll be getting creative with the wheel openings and trimming at the door edge... Thanks to Nick (searching4aCJ) I got my doors back and I am planning to skin them and mount similar to the way I'm doing the fenders-- 1/4-20 countersunk cap screws and cone washers to light tabs and tubework, so I have the option of running "doors" if I want. Probably will have to add a tube at the bottom of the window opening to give something to sit on when getting in with the doors on.

Once all this little BS stuff gets knocked out I'll get more focused on the engine. I really need this thing done for Silver Lake this year. I can't wait!!

I would love to give you a hand some day. I would be up for another blazer day. We need to get yours running again, and then I need to revive mine this spring. I do plan on taking it out a few times next year. I am saving up some money so that I can get 4x4 going.

Keep up the good work, it's getting closer!

I’m sure you racked-up enough brownie points with the wife to have a blazer weekend by now… let me know when you want some help!

Did you install those gears yet? is that still even on the to-do-list?

Thanks, the gear install is still on the to-do list, but that list keeps getting longer! I got one fender mounted last night, took about an hour and a half, but I made enough brackets and supports for the RH side so it should go faster. I originally was going to use DZUS fasteners, but at ~$4 per assembly, I opted for 1/4-20 countersunk bolts and tapered washers. I think it's turning out pretty well though. I'll post pics once I get the other fender mounted.

Default Tranny x-member?

I was reading back thru your build... man has this thing come along way! But I couldn’t remember if you ever went back and gusseted this “Flap” of steel with a tub welded to it that you’re calling a transmission cross-member? Looks a little shady, not that I haven’t done worse, but this isn’t about me…

if I remember right I think you did something different with it??
