I gotta get over there to see that thing sometime. Let me know when you're working on it again.

im thinking about doing the same when i get rid of my body lift cause i want to run the cage through the cab into the bed, would it be possible to just use a piece of steel the thickness of the rubber instead of lifting the frame mounts? it will be much easier for me, since its a part time dd, but i still want it to be solid

Yeah, I priced it from metal express or whatever that place is called that will cut and ship to you- www.metalexpress.net in 6061 aluminum and it was like 60-80 bucks to have aluminum pucks made for all the mounts. I was just going to drill the centers and run the original bolts through them. Then I got my plasma cutter and realized how easy it was to just blast the rivets off and move those puppies up. I looked for a while for a cheaper set of spacers, since that is easier. Try looking on pirate for a used 1" body lift for a K5 or Jeep and use those pucks.

When you do your cage are you going to cut the roof off to weld 360 degrees on all the upper joints or design the cage to drop through the floor once it's tacked to weld the top? Something to think about before you start designing. Sounds like a good project though, keep me posted-

This is my plan to close out the center console area. I'm thinking a little tube enclosure for the battery with a hinge and a latch would be good also.

I'm supposed to get a day in the garage one of these weekends, but it's tough to plan it. I tend to get 15 minutes here and there, and not too much more. We are going to the dunes this weekend though!
Interested?

You're welcome to stay at my folk's place there if you want to save some $. Let me know-- I'll be driving the silver XJ with triplet sticker on the back and the saggy springs missing two LH flares with the front end falling off.

The nice little silver Jeep is doing well. She gets me to work and back every day, so I can't complain.

I need to get some new K5 pics up though...

Probably in better shape than mine. Mine's missing shocks, a radiator and still has trees in the rims again for the 3rd time! Going back to the dunes October 24-26th, should have about 15+ trucks up there.

Default Blazer day 2008

Today was a big sucess, thanks to my buds that came out to help jump start this project- Brott, John, Chad, and Harris, you guys rock

We got a ton done, here's the list:

Remove stock tank, lines, and plumb fuel cell
tranny cooler lines
Water pump pulley installed
coolant overflow installed
exhaust hangers and collector gaskets
FIRE UP ENGINE, (carb needs a rebuild, rad leaks, but it sounded good)
rear brake prop valve mounted outside the frame rail for quick adjustments
Pull engine, need some long bolts to get it on the stand, then the teardown will begin

Pics!

Thanks DANZA!
