And my blazer is starting to crack. All the bottoming out on the dunes seems to really stress the mount and frame right there. Id really suck to jump it and have the frame break. I've been thinking about inbording my shocks to solve the problem (in a / \ way) when I buy new shocks but thats as far as I've got.
My original shock studs in the back cracked the frame a while ago, now I have a little hoop and am running 14" Bilsteins back there thru the bed. Much better setup, but yes inboardinig the shocks is the next best bet. A little hoop from inside of frame rail to inside of frame rail gives you plenty of shock mounting options. Watch out for the motion ratios of the shocks when you get too much angle on them. They start to lose effectiveness.

Not mine obviously, but this is one of the cleanest rear shock mounting setups I've seen on these, actually it might be a Bronco. It's been a while since mine had carpet back there

I'm planning to run the 2wd steering gear up there, so the pitman arm will run towards the rear and take up some frame real estate. The way it is now, I have room under the shallow part of the oil pan, and fit between the pan and the OE engine crossmember. It's tight under there, but it all fits.

How much room is there going to be between the drivers front tire and the steering box?

Should be plenty, it'll never touch the pitman arm since it swings the same as the tires. The tire never got close to the box before, why, does it look really close?

It does to me, but I'm used to seeing the box on the inside of the frame. Just stood out to me. Otherwise, Done yet?

Yeah, they tried to give me an inside the frame 2wd box at the junkyard, I had to have them swap it for the 4-bolt outside frame mount box.
I got one of two dash cross bars done this morning, might be on hold for a bit though, my wife got transfered to labor and delivery at the hospital for contractions... hmmm...

"Triplets, stay in there!"

What do you guys think I should do for door bars on my K5? I don't have any good side views of mine, so I grabbed this pic. I'm trying to tie my front shock tube nodes to the back, add another point to my harness bar behind the seats, and maybe add another point to the top of the a-pillar halo.

Option 1 - normal door x from my front

Option 2 - door x plus a-pillar support (might get too annoying getting in and out

Option 3 - kick a-pillar support tube forward for more room getting in and out

Option 4 - I like

Any other ideas? Is the a-pillar support overkill?

Consider that any bar you put in the "window" area will likely block your visibility somewhat, even more so if you pad it to prevent smacking your face on it.

How were the bars run on the orange truck before you whited them out?
