Do you plan an axle upgrade in the future? 10 bolts are weak, especially if you’re planning on jumping the truck.
Are you over on CK5?

Nice looking work, keep the picts coming!
Thanks :)

I don't think I will be putting the top back on, but I'm going to save it just in case. I have a 14 bolt in the back, and a dana 44 up front, ideally I would like to swap in a D60, but it's not going to happen very soon. Hopefully the D44 will hold up for a while. I blew out the oiginal 12 bolt rear years ago, so that weak link is gone.

I am on CK5, just don't post much there. Pirate too, but same story.

A few more pictures -

are you going to bring one more tube down to the frame around where the coilover will mount?

Yep, that's what I'm planning. I think it would be strong enough without it, but it won't hurt to build it to take a relentless beating.

Something like this-

You make an excellent point. Plus, the more places I tie into the wet noodle of a frame this thing has, the better.

Good to see you posting on here jcp

Engine plans include an MSD distributor, Comp Cam and lifter set, Cloyes timing set, and a set of 2.02 valve heads.

yeah, the further into this build I get, the more purpose-oriented it is getting. I don't have any real reason to keep the roof, so off it comes, same with the fiberglass top. I'm still good for Thursday, what time are we talking?

update 1/22/08

The C/Os are mounted! I just have one spring on to simulate approx ride height... Once I do my steering and track bar I can put this puppy on the ground again. Need one more heim for the trackbar.

Progress shots:

SNOW!!

That would be nice, but I still have 80 feet of tube to bend and weld, a track bar to fab, and steering to sort out. Getting the COs mounted was a big step though...

progress as of 1-25-08

Track bar is in, tricky though, thanks to Chadwick we got it figured out. Thought I would put it on the ground to give the jack stands a breather.

I'm going to take about 2" of height out of the front, this is just where it stands right now.

Looks good!

Assuming you name is true (dune jump), while your working on things check your passanger side rear shock mount. All 6 of our suburbans at work have broke the frame in half there. And my blazer is starting to crack. All the bottoming out on the dunes seems to really stress the mount and frame right there. Id really suck to jump it and have the frame break. I've been thinking about inbording my shocks to solve the problem (in a / \ way) when I buy new shocks but thats as far as I've got.

Why is your trackbar bent? Could you not have moved the frame mount forward so the bar would be just in front of the diff cover?
