Default Michigan sales tax is going up!

Thanks for voting democratic

Taxing the services! ! !

On the list of turning around a failed state, raising taxes would be the last. I can't believe this.

100% settled on a 6% service tax.

It looks like a 4.25% hike in income tax. Republicans want to cut spending, dems want a 5% increase in income tax.

This is where their stuck at.

Awesome. I love being taxed on the money I make AND the money I spend. Also, I wasn't really using that extra .45 % of my income that will now be taken via income tax.

The media keeps hammering that only "luxury" services will be taxed...

Thats right! If worded properly, anything can be made to sound good for the average middle class family!

It's only just begun....The rape of the Michigan Taxpayer.

I especially 'like' how GrandMole and the Pu$$y Legislature managed to keep this huge budget deficit out of the public eye during the 2006 elections. Also just reaffirms how the media has turned from a 'watchdog' into a 'lapdog'.

Does anyone really think that the state will generate enough $$$ by taxing the 'Escort Services', 'Personal Trainers', 'Manicurists', and 'Piano Teachers' with it's new 'service tax'? It didn't work when they shoved that huge cigarette tax unto the smokers. They won't touch the drinkers because the beer/liquor lobbys are too strong.

Naw...This is just a ruse...The real increase, to 7% general sales tax is coming.

Oh, and on a side note: Has anyone successfully challenged their annual property tax increases, since the true value of their house has probably declined by 10%-15%? Let me see, the local tax boards response is gonna be something like: 'It's just a temporary economic situation, we expect housing values to return in the near future.'

I challenged mine, and had it knocked down to the rate of inflation for the year.

Somehow in a down economy, and a shitty housing market, my house gained alot of value...................... according to the city.

That's because those wonderful "Rate Studies" are usually two years behind, and sometimes three, if it benifits the municipality.

Yeah...But that's the 'cap' anyway. What I'm wondering is if anyone has successfully gotten a reduction...back to what they were paying ten years ago....

Depending on the area (ya know: Location, Location, Location), the sale price of housing has decreased. Which is the basis for taxation on real estate.
