gotcha. yea, sometimes what there rated for isnt what they really do. youd want it as clean as possible with the correct penetration for the gauge, especially on those tow points -

penetration jokes to follow . . . . .

Thanks! I am working with Pat from ironmanoffroad, and we talked about a lot of options, I am just trying to do some research first!

since tugly is 10" longer than a cj-7....i started my soft-top build.

Parts I started with
1. bestop reproduction old style top and doors probably from the early to mid 90's
2. a whitco top that was the same style but had a cracked rear window.

I cut the whitco top up and took a 15" section out or so.
I cut the cj top up and started to put it on, which was actually pretty hard.

I screwed some thin wood to the roll bar to hold the top in place.

I am using the standard two bow system for the rear section of the top.
For the front section i am using just one bow.

i have it clamped and taped together, now i just need to find somewhere that will sew it.

Soft top looks good! Maybe a soft cab top and maybe just a bikini top for the bed would be easier to make? either way would look good imo.

Don't forget to take your parking brake with you if you make it to the jeep blessing this year. I see it getting good use in the last couple pics.

Rob - Check with local marinas/boat supply places. They do a lot of heavy canvas sewing work.

Do it, but keep the section you cut out for the sun roof for a shade you can put back over it with velcro or something...although how often it the top going to be on in the sun...
