what is a extra tall deck carrier?

this is what they said i needed for my application.

Yes, you have goofy crap. The D61 pinion is offset farther than the D60, so you need a carrier with a taller deck, which can also be achieved with a ring gear spacer.

thanks, i did read that before i bought it.

i was really wondering if by "tall deck" they meant that the carrier had the mounting surface closer to the pinion. if that was the case couldnt i just build what ever size spacer i needed?
i am in tool and die and have the resources to build anything! i even made my own 700R to Dana 300 adaptor. 1 piece and cnc cut

That's what I take it to mean. The ring mounting surface is offset further than the other carriers in order to bring the ring to the pinion. I imagine you could make your own spacer. What thickness it should be could be the issue.

You might want to check and see how much they are first in case they happen to be inexpensive. I just asked AlumCJ about having him make me something that was a lot less complicated and he basically told me to just go buy it for the price I found it at.
