Default change oil in frount carrier

dose any body know if i need to drop my front axle to change the oil in it on my 02 ranger? is there a drain plug some where i dont see? any help would be nice thanx

I don't know if you have a drain plug like the newer jeeps do, you can poke you head under and look around for one. if not you can pump it out and refill it rather then remove it to drain. if you have alot of metal flake then i would remove and inspect the insides

There is no drain plug on the front carrier (atleast not on the 98-01 ones, I'd assume it's the same). The most economical and fastest way to get the fluid changed is to:

1) drive in 4x4 to stir up the oil
2) take a suction gun, suck it out the fill plug
3) fill with oil, repeat process till clean oil comes out.

If you ever have it out of the truck, drill a hole, helicoil it, and put a plug in it....
