Default Opinions on this 91 chevy 454 $$

1991 454 with 136,262 miles
4 door long box Chevy 454 1 ton 60 front, 205 t case4 speed with a bad clutch .

What do think its worth?

Looks straight .
Mi truck no gaping rust holes or any thing just some surface rust blabla .

The sticker on the window said $4,000 kinda seems like he really does not want to sell or is that price not to far off ?depending on condition.

Tires are bald ,stock with what looks like a 8" lift (has a set of 4 16''alloys that go with it)
I don't want a lifted truck just looking for a project tow rig to replace my van.Kicked around a CJ8 on a blazer frame but to much messing around for the end result .

454 ??? fuel millage 10 mpg maybe all the time loaded or light trailer load ?
Tanks for reading, any good input will be greatly appreciated
Jeff

So I take it the motor was swapped in? The vortecs were better than the old TB motors but still suck the gas down. When I worked at the dealer I never saw one come in for service.

He said it was from the factory, and not many were set up this way .

Sucks gas down but it doesn't cost me $500 plus a month just to sit in my driveway.

I didn't think the vortec was introduced until 1996? My grandpas '95 motorhome had the 454 and it wasn't a vortec. I know the 4.3 liter vortec came out earlier, but I don't know about the 454s.

i seeriously doubt that it is a vortec then... or it was swapped in. The vortec processor requires OBDII, which was just on the drawing blocks in 91 (they were most likely using EEC V processors like Ford)

vortec heads were not available until 1996, when the vortec engine was introduced.

Somebody may have PUT vortec heads on it, but the intake manifold would have needed to be changed to fit the head bolt pattern. Unless it is different for the 350s and 454s.
