The front axle is now prepped and ready for mock up. Because the waggy d44 is a low pinion i decided to cut the c's and rotate the housing to get some clearance as well as better drive shat angles. I also shaved some of the housing again but not as much as the rear.

Rotated it up to 15 degrees

Hopefully will have the axle under the jeep this weekend with some rollers so i can start fine tuning the suspension

I would if i had the money.... school full time leaves very little to play with. And so far i'm ahead after selling my axles so no money spent yet on the upgrade. I did just come across a great deal on a d60 and 10.25.... 3 weeks to late though. Unless someone wants to buy some d44's

most likely will not be at the mounds. Every ones rig is down right now.

I made my coil perches today and one upper control arm mount. Perches are real simple just notched some 5" x 2" x 3/16" tubing to center the pring over the axle. This gave me about a 2 inch stretch in the front.

Prepped the old leaf mount so i could add some 1/4" plate around it. The original idea was to drill and tap the bottom for a couple bolts.

Instead i decided to make a couple pieces to box in the perch, welded them to the axle the welded the 1/4" to the brackets and the perch itself

Torched out the driver side coil mount

Tacked in place with the 3/8" bridge for the UCA mount

The XJ will now have a 110" wheel base, 37's or 38's. Also bent the radius arms, lots of clearance now.
26" to the unirail and 22" to the bottom of the control arm mount with the axle's center line 18" off the ground.

The truss for the upper link will get tied into the diff cover and i may run a tubular truss from coil bucket to coil bucket like on my last axle

Decided to test fit tires tonight after working on justin's rig. SO i brok out the sawz all and went to town.

And this is what i am linda planning on doing with the rear fenders.

Rear also seems to set a little high so i will tweak with the shackle mounts to better their angle and lower it a bit.

Looks good.
What are you going to do with your steering gear as the front stretch can cause clearance issues at the drag link and pitman arm?

That rear stretch is gonna look sweet as hell when finished! I've been looking at other Jeeps that are stretched in the rear and it makes me want to do it to my cherokee so bad. Do you think there will be any clearance issues with the gas tank? That's about the only issue I could think of.

I have yet to really check the steering but i think i am still safe. I will be running a high steer arm for the drag link and hydrolic assist.

Gas tank has 4-5 inches of clearance currently but i will move it up so i don't have to run some major bump stops

I've got to say, I didn't like the stretched look of the rear wheel-wells at first but it definately has grown on me. This one is pretty cool.

that one isn't too bad... i think it would look better if the front wheel wells were larger. Its all about proportions

Bead locks are welded up! Only ground one smooth so far.

White is pimp. Don't mind the steering and all that, its just for rolling the jeep around.
