So exactly what caused the cancellation? All I get from the posts is a permit might or might not have been required and might or might not have been available.

If the situation is we're just not allowed to enjoy our public forests, then we might just as well start supporting the Libertarian Party Candidates. The Libertarians advocate selling off most government owned land. It wouldn't help our cause any, but if the public is not allowed to use public lands, what's the point?

I'm not the one who cancelled the run but IMHO, after all this :chiefwoohaw:; this is what caused the cancellation:

1. This started out as a 'friendly run of buddies' that escalated to an 'Event' status VERY quickly.

2. The requirements (ie: Permits, Insurance, Route submittal) for an 'Event' were not clear to the organizer, and thus were not planned for.

3. A USFS Ranger tried (in my opinion, others have a different view) to drop some 'hints' in order to get the trail run legal before they went out. Which resulted in a lot of hearsay, finger pointing and debate.

4. Ultimately, I think it became too much to deal with for the organizer who simply wanted to get out on the trail with some friends.

I hope that perhaps next year, or later this year, this 'Event' is planned for and conducted. I've never been on a "Poker Run" and honestly don't know what the hell it means or how it's conducted. But it sounds like fun. And any day on the trail is better than a day at work.

Yeah, I take my money and travel to off road parks where we are wanted. It is better than being toyed with by State And Government PRICKS. We will never, with our best ass kissing and most productive trail cleanups be able to use the land our once Great State has to offer because of these PRICKS. One pink slip from them would cost what a weekend in the Badlands cost, so ya might as well travel. PRICKS

I feel you may be right. And the reason is that we can't get enough people to give a crap enough to put up a fight. The states going under anyway, we'll have new rules under canadian ownership.

By the way...If you're planning on travelling to go off roading...see THIS and THIS
