Default My U.P. trip Aug 3-13. Dialup beware...lots of pictures.

Crossing the bridge, heading North.

Castle Rock...see the haze from the forest fire near Newberry?

My rig at the bottom of Castle Rock.

Lakenenland new sculpture.

Lakenenland...snowmobile trail entrance.

Mom and I at the WWII bomber crash site in the Porkies. 1 mile bushwack to get here.

Crash wreckage stuck in growing tree.

Possible evidence of explosion...imbedded at least 4 inches in that tree.

More wrekcage...possibly an engine.

Accordoined piece of wing.

Piece of wing...aileron hinged in place.

Glob of melted aluminum...there were a bunch of these pieces around.

My favorite piece. Engine cowl inspection cover with 1/4 turn connectors.

More wing...see aileron hinge at left end?

There were several alternators laying around.

Scott Falls was dry as a bone.

Had to stop at the tourist trap.

Agate Falls was flowing well.

At Lake in the Clouds.

Norwich View.

Okundekun Falls was my favorite falls this year.

Mainly because you could go behind it. And it was a mile hike, one way.

Yeah...Okundekun Falls was awesome!

Abandoned mines are pretty cool too.

They are a bit creepy too.

We drove to the top of Mount Bohemia...rough drive in the Jeep.

Road to the top had a flat section...but that required a creek crossing.

We camped 2 nights at the Rocket Range again.

Upper Falls in L'Anse.

View from the top of Superior Mountain in the Huron Mountains.

Superior Mountain.

The small stone cairn that I made atop Tick Mountain in the Huron Mountains.

Atop Bald Mountain in the Huron Mountains.

There were a series of peaks atop Bald Mountain...a nearby one.

Nothing like a 4 mile hike in the McCormick Wilderness to get the blood flowing.

I drove across this "bridge" to get to Alder Falls. It was most interesting.

The beams underneath were solid and almost the right space apart for my axle width. Mom spotted me across.

Alder Falls.

A lookout near Harlowe Lake.

Lil' Presque Isle, North of Marquette, where we later went swimming.

We camped at Morgan Falls...see mom and our tent at the top?

Morgan Falls and our tent.

The forest fire over Muskallonge Lake.

More forest fire.

Drove 10 miles down sandy road to a secret beach. This is where I had to use my winch for the first time...steep, soft, sandy, hill.

Spectacular beach...mom hunting for rocks.

More secret beach at sunset.

Controlled burns along 123 to keep the fire from jumping across it.

More controlled burn areas.

Char...blurry action shot.

Naomikong bridge on the NCT.

Scott's Quarry

Hi mom.

A pretty spectacular wall along the NCT.

On the Maxton Plains on Drummond Island.

Fossil beach on Drummond Island.

Camped on Drummond.

Looks like an awesome Trip with good weather all around, spent 2 weeks in the UP backpacking and trail riding years ago.
Wouldn't mind doing that again.

Thanks for sharing!

nice pics mike. How did you get the one near the end of you and your mom on that walking bridge? Even on a timer looks like it would have been a little hike from where the camera was placed.

Thanks for sharing
