Default "living fossil?"

Story here: http://news.sawf.org/Lifestyle/40582.aspx

Scientists like to use this fish as evidence that evolution occured. After the fish grew legs, it was supposedly able to wade through the shallow water's edge and later evolve into a land animal. Scientists were dumfounded when they started catching these fish alive 70 years ago. Scientists claim that the fossils of this same fish were over 300 MILLION years old.

YET.. it remains unchanged for 300 million years. Something is off here. The fact that they caught a 110 pound monster two days ago destroys this theory. If scientists were using common sense and being intellectually honest, they would not claim this a victory for science, but a debunk. If humans are claimed to have changed from and ape-like creature in only THREE million years, how then does a fish remain UNCHANGEd for ONE HUNDRED times the length of that acclaimed to modern day man.

I like that they caught another one of these fish (four in total?), and I hope people get more honest with what that means.

it doesn't destroy the theory...humans evolved from apes, there are still apes.

any more brain busters?

btw, Kerwin, i saw a girl at the bar a few weeks ago with a tattoo very similar to your avatar. I asked her what it meant, she said it was a symbol for non-violence in some other culture or something. cool.

There is no proof that humans evolved from apes.

I dont find evolution and creationism to be mutually exclusive. It never says how god made anything or prohibited anything from changing. If you think about it Americans have evolved into taller people in the last two hundred years, there are definitely changes happening.
I dont however, think that people evolved from apes. Why have no other species of ape evolved into anything other than an ape since? It really isnt logical.

kerwin is anti ape. lol. and besides, his avatar is the symbol of men who have taken vows of celabacy, and wear a hole through the palm of their hand. the female symbol is a rubber fist.

growing taller is micro-evolution, which is real.
becoming a whole new species is macro-evolution, which is not real.

Maybe that fish had no reason to further evolve?

This subject was one of the first great fights that has since ended my marriage. (99% joke, 1% true)

People continue to get dumber....so that proves we are not evolving. We are turning back into apes......quick someone grab a handful of dung and fling it....

How come we don't see animals that are in the middle of their evolution? Like an ape thats more human but still wild? And why would a fish need to "elvolve" into a land walking critter? There are plenty of fish that seem to do just fine in water and keep that ecosystem going.

i think it's kind of funny that it's basically the same argument over and over again. The church people just won't have anything to do with evolution even though it makes pretty good sense and the science/evolution people don't buy the whole church thing because religion has evolved so much over the years that who knows what is right if anything is right. So we just keep having the same argument over and over again.

it seems like pet stores used to sell fish from south america that can live out of water for days and kind of walks. from what i remember, their natural habitat dries out during the summer, and they have to walk to different pools of water, or something like that. they are very aggressive. i think they averaged like 2 feet in length when full grown.

anyone know what i'm talking about cause i don't.

Well, that's because you are an ape too Pete,..........:tonka: :tonka: ........at least that's what TJ says....

I'm kind of wondering though, would an ape be afraid of desert eagle?

i don't "want to be an ape". I am a human being who believes he probably evolved from an ape. My evolved human mind seeks the answers to questions that I don't know and doesn't just blindly accept things that people with funny hats told me that happened a few thousand years ago.

so...who's the ape?
