Um do you speak english? My original statement doesn't indicate that I was talking about only .

First I said I wouldnt vote for a democrat.
Then a carriage return...
Then I said a candidate is only a puppet for their party.

Anyone who knows me, knows I wouldn't vote for a democrat... It shouldn't be a huge suprise :miff:

Why do Libs always say *cough* student loans *cough* when someone says "I also shouldn't be supporting people who don't want to work but want to have babies."? Like those two things can even be equated. It just shows how ignorant you are.

Loans is the operative word there skippy. They have to be paid back. It's not free money based on how many babies you spit out. It's not a hand out and some education loans don't have anything to do with the government. I have a few that are not Federal Loans myself. I pay on every one of my LOANS every month. In order to keep getting financial aid there is a performance standard that has to be met. It's not free money.

I was thinking that too, especially since my husband puts out almost $600 a month for student loans. I dont want to know what the figure will be after he finishes grad school.
Also I think you pay interest on the loans.. aka giving the government extra money back

plus it's still a social program that allows you to take money without having to pay interest while you're a student. without it, you'd have to get loans from a bank which would be quite a bit costly. so you're ok with social programs that help YOU but nothing else for anybody else.

I have taken in the past, and continue to take loans from my bank along with federal loans when they are available, which isn't all the time. They (the bank) also defer payments while you are still taking classes. Have you taken any federal student loans? You still accrue interest even while payments are deferred.

And I guess you are right, I am for social loan programs that improve ones education level and earning potential...and in the same time demanding repayment with interest...and against programs that simply give money away with no end in sight, with no limit, with no demands for repayment, with no incentive to work. Yes, I am against a program that allows millions of able-bodied citizens to get paid not to work.

Weeeeeee.......I'm glad I came back from vacation now. I didn't have the interweb to play with Sova.

So anywho....

Obama changing his mind doesn't surprise me. Candidates will continually change their mind and stance on things to whatever is popular at the moment. Not a single politician can stay true to themselves or their beliefs, regardless of what party they are a part of. Everything is a fawking popularity contest know instead of what's best for the greater good and it pisses me off.

Went to college on the "get a job and pay for it program" :no loans, grants, programs, or other outside assistance. Just that good old American determination (and the occasional timely assist form the family), the same stuff that motivated people to move west just based on the opportunity for a better life - no guarantees, safety nets, etc....

I took 5.5 years to finish, because work time sometimes conflicts with class times. No time for frat boy bullshit or other on-campus crap designed for the "idle rich" (i.e. those supported by daddy or the government). And as a side benefit, I was immediately employable after college, since I understood the working world. The lessons I learned as a night shift UPS guy still come into play 25 years later in my current role.

Gee, and as a reward for this, my kids are ineligible for everything except a $3500/year Stafford load at (slightly) reduced interest rates? Thank God for athletic scholarships

Get rid of all grants, subsidized loans, etc... If they want to go, they'll find a way. Otherwise, they apparently didn't really want it enough.

It really all boils down to the "you have two cows" political theory.

I have two cows, my neighbor has none...SO?

So he should get off his lazy ass, go kill something, bring it home and feed his family.....or starve to death.
