Default dana 30 yoke. straps to u bolts

okay, I got a set from the auto parts store, drilled out the yoke, and went to put them in, but the nuts hit the yoke, so they can't tighten up. Did the parts monkey sell me the wrong ones, or do I need to hone out the backside of the yoke to make tham fit?

I cut 3 small washers out on mine to clear that problem.. I didn't want to grind on the yoke.

But that was on a dana 44.

well, this should work, as the 30 and the 44 have the same yoke.

I will get pics of this.

I tried to mill spots for the nuts in a spare yoke one day and was getting into to much material for my liking...

They best way to do it would be to get a d44 yoke IMHO.

They are getting hard to find.. But someone out there bought all of Spicers stock, like Randy's R&P. Spicer only makes the strap style now... Unless you buy a billet one. The older u-bolt style yokes are becoming popular on ebay.

Yeah 44 yokes, Dana 30 CJ or wagoneer yokes, Dana 300 CJ yokes should all be interchangeable and be u-bolts.

i lost my bolts for the straps so i just drilled them out and realized i couldnt tighten down the bolts.

so i can either add 3 washers or just get a diffrent yoke at the scrap yard or something?

I think you can still get them from DTS. The yokes are like $25. I just sold all my spare D30 u-bolt yokes to Spro and Shawn. I think I had two different spline counts though. I may still have one more on a shelf. Count your splines and lmk. I may have one to sell.
