Default Winch Installation

I bought a used Warn XD9000 Winch a couple of years ago and am finally getting around to installing it.

Where does the negative lead attach to the winch. And theres a small wire coming out of the top (solenoid?) and I have no idea where it goes.

Can anybody please clue me in?

Granted I do not have a WARN but mine grounds through the mounting plate, no negative/ground lead required. My positive is hooked to the solenoid.
