I doubt it. I just got through doing the math on a new one.

Just a guess here,

$1200 in link ends
$1000 in tube
$4000 in shocks
$10,000 in axles
$7,000 in motor
$2,500 in a transfer case
$1,000 in gauges and chassis harness
$4,000 in bullshit

Grand total of $30,700

So how am I far off am I? I know your buggy didnít even cost one third of my estimate

I remember somewhere someone said those 14 bolt axles were north of 10k each. Thats still only 40k though. I'd assume there is probably a lot labor costs they have thrown in there too in their pricing scheme, but that goes beyond your comment of what you could build it for.

Also you don't have the $20k TC ball sweat on the seat factored in.

I would say closer to $10K for the motor.

I priced out a buggy last week. If I provided 100% of the driveline, the cost was still north of $20K. The quote is a PDF and I can't break out the options but it's easy to wrap up $1000 in seats and harness's, then consider fuel cell, floor, outer skins, $1200 in steering, etc. Dont' forget aftermarket pedal assemblies. And guess what, no one has added in the cost of wheels and tires.

I would say you are right...however thats why I put into $4000 into bullshit...my point is that buying a rig for around 3ok is a good deal...65K not so much...for you to build a buggy I would say it would be around 10K if you plan on using your own stuff, and building it yourself

True. But common practice is to take material costs and double it for labor. Therefore, $35K in raw materials gives a selling price of a finished, running rig at $70K.

Either way, Erin should buy it.

$4000 in shocks
$10,000 in axles double this 20,000
$7,000 in motor
$2,500 in a transfer case
$1,000 in gauges and chassis harness
$4,000 in bullshit or more nuts and bolts add up expecially 1 inch hardware

Grand total of $30,700+10400
plus half the shit you missed
+2000 body work and paint
+750 fuel system and cell
+ 2000 power glide trans
+1500 drivshafts
+1000 seats and harness
+ 1000 links them self
+3500 wheels and tires
+2500 steering parts
+ labor i would be willing to bed there's hundreds of hours into making that thing all blingy, could you build it your self cheaper maybe. would it be as visually appealing more then likely no
+14250 in extras
+ 10400price change in your original post
+30,700 your guess

55,350 + labor

I know your buggy didn’t even cost one third of my estimate
i would love to see you build what i had for 10k, yes using all junk yard parts you could maybe do it for 16-20k plus labor. If you think you can build turn keys rigs for 10k you should go into buisness
look at how much that little suspension kit on your go kart cost, think about the shear size difference.

Damn skippy on your recalculation. This shit doesn't nickle and dime you to death it 500 and 1000's you to death.

I remember when I bought a Detroit for my CJ(like 10 years ago) and $400 seemed like a bunch of money to spend. Now it seems like you are lucky if something for your rig is only $400.

I think with something like that too the mindset switches from what it costs to build it yourself to what it cost for the original owner to have it built.

700 front axle shafts
450 front u joints
500 home made d shafts
1700 built dana 300
750 fresh rebuilt th350
1400 5.3 gm with jims perf harness and comp
500 fuel system
800 mastercraft seats
150 harness
50 gauges
400 orbital
220 steering ram
250 steering lines
200 b&m trans cooler
700 used warn winch
250 rear winch
150 steering links and heims
200 aluminum floors
850 bucks ring and pinions and rebuild kits

200 exhaust bends and muffler
250 paint work
250 wilwood brake master and pedal
280 radiator
19,700 in hard parts i bought off the top of my head

-add in 2 more sticks of tube i put in the chassis,
-all the gas i spent driving around to use friends tools(lathes, plasma, tig)
-welding gas and wire
-the 1000 bucks i spent on fuel getting the "free"chassis
- all the damn fluids

so no i dont think a "decently built" buggy can be built for under 10 grand

i dont care for that rig. he paid like 80 for it when he bought it from tc.
i am using everything i had already.(i have close to 5 grand in my front axle) i bought a 5.3 for 600 and 400 for wiring and computer work.so a grand into a running motor.just bought 2 new corbeau ss seats for 378 shipped to my door.320 for front bumps.i have 700 into one set of 2.5 coilovers and 1150.00 into the new fox 2.5's. already have 1/14 heims all the way around.if you buy new those are 100 a arm.
still will be buying a bunch but i guarantee i will have less then 10 into this now..buying it all from new would be 20grand or more.

.already have tires and rims.will be buying a bunch of little stuff

however you look at it it cost money.and a shit ton of work.

do i think every rig running koh is worth 60 to 100 grand no.but to each there own.

if i won the lotto the first thing i would do is call tc up and buy showtime. then i would buy campbells buggy just to run around my field.
