Zeitgeist was created as a not for profit expression to inspire people to start looking at the world
from a more critical perspective and to understand that very often things are not what the
population at large think they are. The information in Zeitgeist was established over a year long period
of research and the current Source page on this site lists the sources used / referenced.
Soon, an interactive transcript will be online with detailed footnotes and links.

It's important to point out that there is a tendency to simply disbelieve things that are
counter to our understanding, without the necessary research performed.
For example, some information contained in Part 1 and Part 3, specifically, is not obtained
by simple keyword searches on the Internet. You have to dig deeper. For instance,
very often people who look up "Horus" or "The Federal Reserve" on the Internet
draw their conclusions from very general or biased sources. Online encyclopedias or text book
Encyclopedias often do not contain the information contained in Zeitgeist. However, if one takes
the time to read the sources provided, they will find that what is being presented is
based on documented evidence. Any corrections, clarifications & further points regarding the film
are found on the Clarifications page.

That being said, it is my hope that people will not take what is said
in the film as the truth, but find out for themselves, for truth is not told, it is realized.

if they are really trying to open peoples eyes, and get them to look away from the majority, then maybe the producers should've clipped george carlin mocking religion.

i will listen to what anyone has to say, but when someone laughs at or mocks my faith, i turn off.

it's pretty obvious that the creators of this movies aren't trying to open the majorities eyes, they are just preaching to the liberal, conspiracy theorist, athiest, chior.

you would think it'd would take more than a year of research to disprove all of religion and politics.

oh please, don't you think it's funny that the jesus story is so similar to so many others before it. I mean, look at all the stuff the early christians blatantly ripped off from the pagans and what they didn't rip off, they made "evil" ahem, the pentacle aka pentagram...

I posted this on here last week, I couldn't stop watching it. There is so much history related to religion that the vast majority doesn't know. We learn what we are taught, for the most part. Ask most people this question, and they get it wrong. What is the most common religion in the world? It sure isn't Christianity. Now, I don't put anyone down for their beliefs, but don't you find it funny that the people that are "devout" are the same ones that won't listen to another side of the story, and write everything off as nonsense. Then they say the people that think other than them are trying to disprove the existence of God. I'm not trying to disprove God at all, I believe in a higher power, I just don't jive with most standard religious beliefs. I read a tremendous amount about religious history, not because I am trying to prove a point, but I find it informative and interesting. Yes, what is in this movie I believe to be the truth, or at least a much closer version than what is commonly believed. And the Carlin rant pretty much sums it up, in a not so tactful manner, but the jist is there.

Go back about 5000 years to Egypt. What they thought were gods were obviously different than common belief now. But at that time, they were believed to be real. So their faith was based upon that dogma. Fast forward to now. We look back at them, and some think how ridiculous it was for them to worship as they did. Now, in 2000 more years, do you think people will look back at us the same way? My opinion is probably.

sure, there are similarities. if you try hard enough, you can relate anything to anything. i don't doubt that there are similarities between religions. in fact if you look through out most religions you will see, in loose context, the golden rule. love your neighbor as yourself.

i too find religion fascinating. it's wierd how close so many of them are to eachother. do i believe christianity is just another ripped off, badge engineered religion? of course not.

when you start a "documentary" about the history of the world with someone who mocks peoples' faith, you are not trying to shed a new light of religious understanding on the world. you are just stirring the pot, trying to make a name for yourself, like michael moore.

But no one is mocking your faith. They are not poking fun at Christians, they are just pointing out some discrepancies and presenting an alternative viewpoint.
Now I may not like Michael Moore's past work, Sicko is worthwhile. There may be hope for him yet.

no one but george carlin, which was my original point, if they really wanted to make an impact they wouldnt put offensive pieces like that in the documentary.

haven't seen much of sicko, but i must say the whole debate with cnn raised some eyebrows.
it bothers me that he calls canada's medical program a free deal. they pay outrageously in taxes for that privilege, but moore still for some reason thinks it's free.
the other thing that bothered me from the parts i did see was him claiming we shut the doors on 47 million americans on health care. it may be that they don't have medical insurance, but it doesn't mean they don't get health care.

also, why does he put so much effort and time into telling people how our government sucks, then in the same breath say how it needs to run the health care system?

but thats getting off topic.

I did think of that after you said that. I guess he does mock it, eh? But heck, it's George Carlin! And, even as harsh as he is, what about what he is saying isn't true? I mean, really, from a strictly logical angle it is pretty far fetched. I realize that is why it is called "faith", so I won't get into that whole thing, which I am sure I know your opinion on! I know my problem is that I have to analyze everything, not just religion, and most of the time to my own detriment. Can't help it, though. Figure that if you are right, then that's the way God made me anyway, maybe my mission in life is to try to test other's faith? Who knows? Can't help the way I think, just like you think the way you do, and everyone else thinks the way they do. We'll all find out eventually, right?

yeah, someday we will.

this is my take on faith. faith is something everybody deals with every day. if you don't personally expirience something, say george washington being the first president, then you have faith in the history books and in your third grade teacher who told you he was. everybody has faith, it's just who they have faith in.

i know george carlin is george carlin, i have never liked him. i probably never will.

Well take that logic and look at the 20 most prominent historians around at the time of Jesus' life, none of them wrote about this guy who was performing all these fantastic miracles. why do you suppose that is?
