This past winter i swapped in a 2006 all aluminum 5.3L w/ the 4L60E. The only factory gauge that is not working is the tach. I replaced the 4.0L, AX-15. Tons of power turning 36" Iroks now. Let me know if you have any questions on the swap. Rick

I am geared 84:1 in low range, and I think it fits the 4.0 perfectly. I have never really wanted more power for wheeling... maybe to beat on around town.

Will never be a small block

It will be an auto, to much sand and mud for a manual. Besides a atlas 4 speed is cooler anyway.

If it was an eariler model tj, then that is what I would do. But is gonna be a newer model and the electronics won't like each other.

V10, 48re, atlas 4.3 most likely

Maybe you should just start over with a shortbed V10 Ram and truggy it.

Close, but I want a different v10, and the one I need only comes in a crew cab.

get rid of your rear end go with a 14 bolt and run 5.38. i had to ditch the 70 because of the delay in gearing. stroke your 4.0 and put a supercharger on it if you want to keep your current setup. wheeled with a guy that had a 4.0 stroker w a supercharger and that thing had some serious nuts.

Dodge Route
Magnum 360, NV4500, NP241HD out of a cummins....

Or go the Ford Route
347 stroker or stroker 351W, T18 or ZF5 for the OD, BW1350/1356 crawl box....hmmmmm damn good crawl ratio, and some HP for tire cleanage in the mud.

Chevy route..
TPI 350 stroked to 383, NV4500, NP203/205 doubler

Jeep route
Stroke your 4.0 to a 4.6 and runwhatcha brung and hope the auto trans lives and that the 75HP you gained is really enuf...

Nevermind, I saw you want an auto...that blew my plans all to hell...can't expect to get too crazy with crawl ratios unless you have an atlas or a doubler since you won't take advantage of a manual with a granny 1st

It would be a 403? magnum

or 408W

or a LS1

Motor will make up for gearing.

Won't make up for much if you need to crawl though....

not many rocks here in michigan though

whatever you do, post it in the rig builds. Sounds like fun!
