no, its legal, there are a lot of state trails on state land. When you are out there you will see where you aren't supposed to go, as their are signs / fences....

I wish more people would put up their GPS tracks. This is really cool. I know this area up there and next weekend when we go up will are going to try some of the tracks in the "Grayling Run - Uploaded.gdb" file. I know when we are driving up there we will record and try and post some good road/two tracks we drive on. Thanks again and phazer42 if you have any more please post.

Please don't promote illegal wheeling, all it does is close more trails to us. Thank you.

If you want to continue driving anywhere other than on paved roads in the future, you may want to reconsider your I don't care attitude. The DNR can say anything they want until someone steps up and challenges their self-ordained rules. But, going off and knowingly trespassing and trail riding illegally will do nothing to support our sport.

I am not trying to argue with you, but with our legal system, someone's word, doesn't amount to much. With any law, it is best to find the information yourself before you get into trouble. Or, if you want to trust someone, like say, Mr. Lutz, have him show you where it says that what you are doing is legal.

No offense to any officers of the law or forest system, but there are so many laws, that nobody could know them all. Many times the officers just go by their gut feeling or second hand information. Best example I have seen is the "tires outside of the fenders" tickets. There is nowhere in any law book in MI that states anything remotely like that, but many people will tell you that "so and so cop told me it wasn't legal". If you got a ticket for that, you could fight that in court.

yeah, and i thought this thread was about wheeling at camp grayling and not about what i do? i just figured some people on here would like to see some of our local wheeling spots. theres thosands of acres of state/military owned land. I've lived here my whole life and i know most of the area like the back of my hand. let me know when you find a 100% legal wheeling spot in crawford county.

Yeah I understand what you are saying, but anything promoting illegal wheeling on this site can be trouble for all of us. People don't take too kindly to us wheelers losing more and more privileges due to people with the attitude that "the laws are stupid" or "there is nowhere else to do it".

yeah, but i never said the laws are stupid or that there is nowhere else to do it. i wheel all on military/state owned land out by range 40 and military road. if im promoting illegal wheeling then you can have fun wheeling on dirt roads, two tracks and ORV trails. i only live once so i might as well make it worth it

I am not trying to say I don't agree with you that I want to be able to wheel places, but there are many people, on this site and other places, working very hard to maintain and also expand offroad use and rights. Every time someone comes around with an attitude like this and gets caught, it gives the opposing forces more of a fight against the 4x4 community.

So if you are going to have to do this, just keep quiet about it, and try to be as neat and tidy as you can while doing so.

BTW, I do almost zero wheeling it MI. Even the illegal stuff doesn't hold a candle to most places out of state.
