Default Government spending...

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/...n2528226.shtml

Quote:
"The first baby boomer will reach 62 and be eligible for early retirement of Social Security January 1, 2008. They'll be eligible for Medicare just three years later. And when those boomers start retiring in mass, then that will be a tsunami of spending that could swamp our ship of state if we don't get serious," David Walker explains.
Your thoughts?

I personally have never liked government funded programs like social security or medicare. I feel they represent a major overstepping of the bounds I wish government had. People refuse to take responsibility for themselves because they know the someone else is there to act as a safety net. It's sad.

I don't get why every time a new person starts talking about this problem everyone acts like it's the first time it's been brought up. I've been hearing the same thing for many years. It's pretty simple, you either find a way to get more money, or figure out a way to spend less.
