Default so what are you doing about global warning

OK so lets assume it's all true. That the earth is heating up. That it's mostly due to human activity. That if we don't act now the human race is doomed.

For those who believe that what should we do about it? and most specifically, what are YOU doing about it?

I'm assuming that since you're on Great Lakes 4X4.com that you own a 4 wheel drive vehicle and enjoy recreational driving. Wouldn't giving up that be a good start?

I'm also assuming that you have a computer, which is using electricity. Turning that off might also help.

Are you choosing to sweat rather than run your AC on hot days like today? If your truly worried about global warming it would seem like you should.

So what are you doing? Are you keeping electricity use to a minimum? paying extra to get you electricity from renewables? Walking or riding a bicycle for short trips rather than driving? Choosing to keep you heat low in winter? Living in an apartment rather than a house? Using public transportation whenever possible? avoiding unnecessary or recreational travel?

My point being, it seems to me that theres lots of people that want to talk about it and try to tell us all how bad global warming and that we should all do our part to cut back on our CO2 production, and yet the people telling us that are flying around in private jets, living in mansions, and holding rock concerts. I don't get it.

While cleaner burning that gasoline Propane still gives off CO2 when burned.

I keep over 600MW of coal fired generation fired up as close to 24 hours a day as I possibly can. Beat that. :tonka:

40 acres and a mule? Are you black? And you know damn well we stole back the 40 acres within the first year we gave them to them.

so, you deny that you aren't in some way polluting the earth? Or that companies are polluting the earth en masse to fulfill your needs like electricity?

whether global warming is real or not. We have an obligation to ourselves to find a cleaner way to live.

1) Using fluorescent bulbs
2) Using the ceiling fans instead of AC (when applicable)
3) Buy Energy Star appliances when given the opportunity
4) Recycle
5) Turn off lights when not in the room

Oddly enough, all of these actions also SAVE MONEY. It would be foolish not to conserve when given the opportunity.

What does this mean? Is this some sort of cop out that when it is cool you use your ceiling fans and when it gets to hot you turn on your A/C?

Who oppresses you from buying Energy Star equipment.

Seems pretty weak to me, aren't you one of the global warming crazies on this site? It seems you should be running bio-fuel grown on your own land and using solar power, and using a pedal powered computer.

I like the idea of paying third world countries for our excess carbon surplus. That way they can plant trees, grow rice, coca, weed whatever their little hearts desire. And we can just choke on our smog and monoxide and roll in our cash.

I am not sure I believe in global warming in the way the liberals describe it. I think a lot of that is scare tactics. I do think we should pollute less though. Mike and I just put in fiberglass windows and we are putting in fiberglass doors to help energy conservation in our house. I turned in my ford truck and I am getting something smaller to replace it. My truck was pretty efficent though so I dont know if I can get something that I want that is lower fuel economy.
I am not going to give up the comforts of the modern life like air conditioning. Additionally I believe that the third world counties like China pollute more than the U.S. and Europe do....

The only thing that is technically "go-green" that I do is make bio-diesel to run in my Army vehicles. It's made mostly from re-cycled veggie-oil. I also pay a little more to put E85 in the significant other's Ram 1500. I do keep the temp slightly higher in the summer and lower in the winter, but that's just as much to save money as it is to "go-green."

Lets see here, a ceiling fan uses FAR less electricity than the AC and does not have freon. It would be exponentially more wasteful to trash a perfectly good appliance in the dump than to wait for it to outlive its usefulness and THEN buy an energy star appliance.

I WILL be installing solar panels and skylights into my home eventually (Just bought my first place 1 month ago). I also own a cavalier (old and crappy)for daily driving to avoid the 15MPG with the Jeep.

The big problem with Global Warming is that the governments need to recognize it and begin the remediation process. I cannot buy a hydrogen powered car if it is not on the market.

And I do not mind being a global warming "crazy" if you had seen what I have in the Caribbean, you would understand how bad the situation is.

i dont deny that i pollute the earth. in fact i took a shit in the woods last weekend, and i am pretty sure i killed all living things within a 500 foot radius.

you said that we are causing global warming, which we are not because global warming does not exist. just like al gore inventing the internet, and the easter bunny, it's bullshit. (sorry to let anyone down about the easter bunny)
