the eb with us was having over heating issues and charging system issues.we enbded up towing him in about 25 miles to our camp site so we could work on it.i almost tore thje steering box off the jimm .noticed it just after i took the pic of the jeep on the mountian side.was fun getting back down like that, made it back to camp and removed the box and welded the frame back up and wheeled for 2 more days.

Been there....Done that.......It's a great place As I recall..I met a Golden Retreiver in Eureka named Porter..... Alaskan Wheelers are awesome...carry just about everything but the kitchen sink.......I was amazed at the terrain and the beautiful scenery all over the state.....I'll be headed there for my 3rd time maybe next year for the Alaskan 4x4 meet and greet in July ALASKA ROCKS !

Thank you for sharing, those pictures are kick ass. I had an '84 chevy that broke the shackles exactly the same as yours did. Must be common?

Nothing a little flat stock didn't fix.

1) bring as much as you can strap to your roofrack
2) run them over then eat them

for gas i figure 1/2 tank per day we will be out there.we run 8-12 hrs a day and cover 30-50 miles a day depending on the terrain.one year it took us 9 hrs to go 4 miles lol, lots of bogs to cross.on this trip i brough a total of 65 gallons.
as far as bears go...i would be far more scared of the snakes you guys have down there than any bear up here.in 4 trips to that area we have seen 1 bear but probly 10k caribou and 75-100 moose.
