Default 02 taurus ignition locked

I'm working on an 02 Taurus with the chip in the key, The ignition is locked, can't turn it to accessory or start. I tried turning the steering wheel both ways, and it still Won't turn. And it is in park. I was wondering if there is anything other than the ignition cylinder that could cause that. Maybe a fuse or relay.

Not the right key?

Nothing else can cause that.

Try this though....put the key in, tap the end of the key, like you are trying to drive it in further, with a plastic hammer or the end of a screw driver.

Give it some good smacks but don't beat the piss out of it.

There is a TSB for this. Once you get it to turn, put some lube in it.

The thousands of dollars I spend on college helped someone.
