Default Mounds Run (July 21) Roll Call

Breakin Mud Run

Kinda a little in advance but thought that i would though it out there. Trying to get a group together to do a big mounds trip. As of right now we are thinking the 21 July (saturday).

I am hoping to have the 350 in my truck and going by then. My friend is getting a 96 ford ranger with a 302 on 35's that he wants to take. Another friend with a lifted dodge truck(forgot year), he just got his lift on(6 to 8in i think) and still looking for tires. Also maybe another friend is getting a older beater chevy truck on 36's.

Hoping to get a big group set up. This would be my first trip with the 350 in my truck. First trip in the ranger, first trip in the dodge, and first trip with the chevy. Thats way im calling it the breakin mud run. First for every truck in some sort of way.

What day do you want to do it on. That saturday or sunday.

So whos all in?

People probly going with me:

Me- 85 toyota truck 37s, locked front&rear, 350(hopefully)
Cousin Zak (Bajatoy53@hotmail)- 85 toyota truck, 33's, locked front&rear
Alec- 96 ranger, 302, 35's, probly locked front&rear by then
Trevor- older dodge truck, 8in lift(Out-bad axles) Maybe on a dirtbike
Brother- 95 toyota truck, 3in lift, about 33's-or 4 wheeler
Brad- older beater chevy truck, 36's(out-never got the truck)

Maybe:From Site

slow96hater- needs motor
muddinguy
jared- needs a ride because he wont wheel the new jeep (what a loser:tonka: )
Skife- First time to mounds
pre4runner+ hunter2005 riding along maybe
motorcitydak
medicjaycook

if i can get my truck running by then i'm in, ran into some troubles tonight while installing the cam i stripped out one of the bolt holes on the middle cam cap. ruined my night, not your fault jacob i had the cam in once tonight, took it back out because something didn't feel right, put it back in and go to torq the middle cap and it just kept going and going and going, pulled it out and threads we're on the bolt

slow96hater, run heavier oil, it will prolong your engine life for a little while longer.

if the weather stays like it has been you might have to change the name to "lookin for mud" run.

stock cam, but looking at the cam a little better one of the lobes is pitted a little bit, i'm going to need to buy a cam now :D good for the truck, bad for my wallett. dropped $500 over the weekend in parts and fuel to get the parts :D haha. you think i could helicoil the stripped hole in the head?

what are the requirements for mounds?

Know what you mean for droppin money. Same problem with the 350.

Dont know really any thing about heilcoiling. I have a friend that works at a machine shop. Ill have him ask his boss.

For mounds all you need is a orv sticker, and its a $10 entry to get in there for the day. Then its just the basic safty things, seatbelts, roof, etc.

what does a truck need to make it through the stuff up there?
could i do it on 31x10.5 michelin A/T tires or am i going to need something bigger that is more of a mud tire? Cause i think i might be able to get my brother to loan me his 33x12.5 mud kings.

The more agressive the tire the better. ATs wont do to much. Get the mud kings if you can, but if not o well. Just wont make it though as much stuff. There taller is better because you have more axle clearence in the mud and ruts.

Pre4runner
So far your the only jeep in the main group, so you wont be the baby jeep cuz your the only jeep, but youll still probly be pulled out the most. Its a jeep thing i understand.:tonka:

I'll be there one of the days. I'm usually out every weekend for a couple hours. Hopefully I'll have my buggy going by then - waggy frame, tube body, 305, turbo trans, dana 20 tc, 35's.

31's will get you everywhere except through the big holes. You can run pretty much every trail with that setup. I run 31's on my XJ and have no problems, but I stay out of the big holes.
