Default Need help from someone with a NEC book.

I've looked all over online, and can't find an answer to this one. My questions apply to an inground swimming pool.

1. Wet Niche Luminary. Code says a 8gauge ground must be fixed to the inside of the luminary with a potting compound and run through the conduit back to the junction box. The light already has a ground of it's own that runs to the junction box, then the panel.

Well, the niche I'm working is plastic, and has a ground post on the outside of the niche, allowing you to run the ground to a grounding rod, but code that I've seen so far makes no mention of being able to utilize the post on the outside of the niche.

IF you are able to do this, What is the minimum/maximum distance the ground rod must be from the pool.

2. All diving boards, ladders etc must be grounded. Alright. Again, makes no reference as to how far the the rod must be from the pool, and if the ladder
and board can go to the same ground rod.

I've been looking through what I can all day online, but those are the two stumpers. Inspection is either tomorrow night or wednesday night, and I don't like being told something isn't right. I've already had to redo a good chunk of what the electrician did last year.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

The "bathing" area codes are stupid. They confuse me, that is the only part of the NEC I don't understand.

It sucks because most electrical code is fairly simple and straigtforward, but this pool shit is really racking my brain. I understand the need for everything they call for, such as EVERYTHING being grounded and GFI'd, but WTF, I don't want to pound a rod into the ground to be told at inspection that it's too far/close, fail, then wait a week for him to come back.

Especially when code doesn't really tell you where it needs to be.

MY pool light is wired with 8 gauge water exposed something or other romex. Switch is located back by the pool filter/pump etc a good 20 feet from the pool. Light is grounded to switch box with a bare copper ground coming out and running to a grounding rod.

Diving board, and ladders simply go into metal sockets in the concrete, i got the pool with the house, but there is no other grounding that i can tell.

Go to your local pool supply/installer and ask them, i'm sure they will know. The one by me is very knowledgeable and always helpful

Well, a local pool company is finishing the pool, but refuse to touch the electric, and the faggots can never be found or heard from when you need any sort of technical help. Fuck it, I can't even begin to explain how screwed this whole pool thing has been. The company, who I won't mention yet, is the most jacked operation I've ever seen. Dickheads filled the pool without putting the light in. They were supposed to be out today to install the light in the niche, but never showed. We called and asked WTF was going on, and was told that somebody was sick. Whatever. I almost pulled out the rape card.
