This is why i'm leaning towards getting the rockhard bolt in rear spreader. I worry the most about the rear of the stock cage collapsing more than anything.

I have never seen so many roll overs. I have been there when the back of the hills were drop offs, and have never seen anyone flip. WTH! Ya think speed played a factor in any of these roll overs?

I think it was more of an "Oh Shit" factor and hitting the brakes.

The funny thing is that the back side of the hills were a lot less steep than I have seen them in the last few years??? Especially the last hill.

Anyone see it happen? How fast was he going? I can't believe how messed up the cage is. Looks like it was a hard roll.

given the damage to the rear and the forward motion of the force through the cage. I suspect that he hit the brakes to try and stop on the top of the hill too hard and it endo'd smacking the rear of the cage down first and so forth.

Taken from that other site the picture came from

Quote:
"My understanding as I was over their just shortly after it happened (John and I were probably only a minute or so behind it) was the the cage had already probably been stressed from two prior incidents. I believe it was Mark who straightened me out that the driver's area cage was not completely broke but as you can see it was severely out of shape. The 16 year old (and his 12 year old sister in this ride) were apparently unhurt. Second or third hand had it that the Dad was just happy they they weren't hurt and not too concerned about Jeep."

Well, it wasn't the kids sister, yea, he's 16, been driving off road since he was 10-11.

The owners daughter was in the jeep, as well as Frank's son (not related to the 12 year old gal)

I'd speculate he came over the last hill too hot, pooped himself and turned to the right to avoid going down the hill.

They're not "Roll Cages" they are "Energy Absorbers"

I'm not glad this happened to them but I'm glad I have some pictures to justify spending some loot on a decent cage to the wife.

I think captsolo was replying to Pickpocket's post? I don't think he was saying that that specific driver was inexperienced, just that the cause of more accidents on the dunes this year could be due to more people with 4wd's who have less, or no, experience.

DCX calls them sport bars (not roll cages) for a reason.
