Default I confused my Garmin...

I switch off between using "quickest time" and "shortest distance" when using my GPS. It works great when in a metropolitan area, or when you are near freeways and M roads.

I decided to use "shortest distance" from Silver Lake back to Big Rapids for a change of pace.

Here's one road we ended up on:

It was pretty much a two track that was pretty sandy. I'm even surprised it was on my GPS.

Besides that, it was telling me to turn on roads that didn't exist, and it is also set to avoid unpaved roads.

Yes, I have the latest update.

My Garmin c330 street pilot you can alter . More or less roads pop up and it determines teh route that way . Show less detail and you get rid of the so called roads that are not a road but a trail . Maybe yours can do that ?

Great for wheeling , not so great if your trying to get from point A to point Z

one team had a garmin on the babe rally, called this little dirt trail a highway, and lone behold, it turned into a highway after about 5 miles of a tight twisty hill

It did the same bullshit with unpaved/paved roads. The roads were half and half.
