Default LOL at the oil change place

I ran my GFs car into a quick lube place on friday before we headed up to the
About a month ago I lost the cap for the overflow bottle, and I just wrapped the top of it w/ duct tape until I get a new cap. Well, I go into the place (BTW, I despise these places, I always change my own oil, but I was in a hurry) and the guy opens the hood, comes back a minute later and says "You need a radiator cap, the duct tape has got to go. I cant even let you leave with it like that." I told him that I have a radiator cap, its located on the radiator, and the duct tape is just on the overflow bottle. He responds with "well, yeah, but that bottle needs to hold 16lbs of pressure or your car wont get up to temp. and you will get terrible mileage."
At this point, I got out of the car walked around to the overflow bottle, and asked him how it is supposed to hold 16lbs of pressure when there is a hole in the top of the bottle so the coolant can overflow if it needs to?
He didn't have anything to say.

He also told me that it had a headlight out, and a side marker out.... guess what... they work fine.

yeah, I don't really trust those places.

I like how every time I go in there they want to flush my engine oil because it is dirty. That is why I change my own oil and the girlfriends oil. Unless I don't want to, then I take it to the dealer I worked at. I trust them.

you were probably drunk.

I am sure you were in the wrong on this one. Alcoholics tend to have a narrow view of the world.

For the record. I do not condone drinking and driving under any circumstance, nor do I ever get behind the wheel when I have had anything to drink. Not even one.

Yeah those places are a scam, they'll try anything to get another buck out of you. I got into a big fight at Jiffy Lube in Chicago last summer.
I was there for work for a couple weeks and took my dad's WJ. It needed an oil change so stopped at a Jiffy Lube for a quick one. A-holes told me I had both front marker lights, a rear turn signal and 2 rear stop lights out. So like 5 lights total !!! Go to my hotel & inspect the lights myself and every single one is just fine. Drove back and raised hell with the manager, nothing came out of it but I did start in front of other customers so may be that would educate them.

I just got the oil changed on my XJ at an Uncle Ed's yesterday. I live in an apartment, so I can't do it myself anymore. They were really cool. I do hate how they usually talk to you like you are an idiot though. (They were advising the lady in the next stall that she needed a new head gasket, I'm not sure why) Do any of those guys need to have any actual automotive training, or is it all done in house?
