Can't he take it to Autozone and have them read the codes for free, that should tell him what's wrong.

I agree, you are stuck in Side wheel drive. You need to try to do a burnout on pavement, rev the motor, dump the trans in gear, and see what tires spin. Then do the same in reverse and report back.

If you can't figure out how to do it, ask Clarkston Cracker, he is basically a pro at it.

Ok, if the driveshaft spins freely, it can't be engaging and making your front wheels spin

Can you put this thing on a hoist, or on jackstands and put it in gear to see what is happening?

Or disconnect the drive shafts, and put it in gear and watch your np231 outputs

When going from 4 hi to 2 hi my t case will stay in 4 hi on cement. Usually I pull off the road on the dirt shoulder where some tire slip can happen and it then unlocks and goes to 2wd. I have a NP242.

i think it is fixed. i did buy it from a dumbass. well i took it to DTS and they didnt no why it would do it . it was in 2high ,drive shaft moved freely. did a hole shot the front pas-side spun. he told me to find a dirt road and try doing hole shots in 4wd and then 2wd. well i did it and then the front stoped spinning. put it back in 4wd worked great put it back in 2high and it worked great. so thanks for the help and thanks for the bashing too lol
