I have an '01 and have no problems with the dash cracking. Never heard anyone to have a problem either.

Weird....

Replacing it isn't cheap either.

I have heard stories. Let me ask some of our testing guys, something just came up about this in warranty reviews. (Textron / C&A made the I/P's)

It is a very early '01, I actually bought it in June of 2000.
Extreamly weird .. Just happened in the lsat 30-40 days, or should I say I just noticed.
First noticed 1 crack over glove box between airbag and defrost vent.
Then a week or so later a second one about 6 inches away.
I took a closer look yesterday and it is cracked around all the mounting screws by windshield and there is also a crack on drivers side ...

It is always something... I just had the heatercore, AC condensor and radiator replaced, that was just after noticeing the first crack.

I should sell it and get an old J truck.

Bolts/screws were torqued too much when the heater core was replaced?

Bad material supplier. DCX doesn't use them anymore.

Mine was built in May of '00, VIN lists as an '01. Will I have these problems?

Only if you live in the deep south.
There have been no reports of this happening in northern climates.

It's been traced back to a combination of humidity and heat from sunload.

Ok good to know. After throwing in new upper and lower balljoints, front and rear brakes, I really don't want to throw any more money at that thing.

So I guess that makes Lake Orion the "Deep South"

Who do I need to report it to?
