Why start a new thread? Why not just reply to the old one?

Edit: Now I'm confused. I just ran a search and the tread from last week is missing?????

You should post it on cj-8.com. You'd probably get some interest there. Good luck with the sale. It looks really nice!

Because you and a bunch of other people made a lot of garbage posts in it.

okay, I'm going to admit that I'm stupid to this whole Scambler thing, but can I ask a dumb question?

Why is the back end black? My first thought was that it was a modified CJ5 or 7 made to look like a CJ8. But then, again, I don't know anything other than what I've bothered to pick up from chatter in our barn. However, when I asked the folks in the room with me what they thought, they had the same thought without me telling them what I was thinking.

And before anyone wonders why I'm chiming in, it's because I am somewhat kinda thinking about getting a wheeling rig and I've always liked Scramblers so the post caught my eye. I'm (for once) not trying to be a bitch, but just curious as I understand that replacement parts are often a different color and want to make sure of what I"m seeing before I decide that I'm diving in deeper than what I should be

Those look like corner crushers of some sort, but it's hard to tell from the photos. It's definitely a Scrambler tub. Look at the distance between the rear wheel opening and the door. Scramblers have a 10" longer wheelbase than a CJ-7, and also have more overhang in the rear.

The corners got painted black becasue when I got the Jeep, the previous owners covered up the tailgate.. (suppossedly something cool to do in california?) the back the the corner panels where still primer and looked really bad, so we sprayed the black to look like crusher corners and hide the primer. Nice call out on that Craig!
