Go up m-15 to mt morris rd, turn left. It is down about 1 mile up on the right.
You can get ORV stickers at meijer, kmart, etc...

You might want to wait and go during mud mania. There will be several people out there. You will meet a lot of people, especially the Dirty Minds group. Always better to be with others. Check the trail rides section.

Seriously.

Don't go to the mounds and go balls out. You'll tear your ride up if you don't know what you're doing. Go and hang out for the day, watch what's going on, putz around, whatever. The last time I went, we fucked around for a little bit, then hung out around the mud area. My vag was real sandy, so fucking up my TJ wasn't something I felt like doing, hence staying out of the mud.

Go up to grayling and wheel up there for a few weekends. There's enough to do to keep you from being bored, and you'll learn a few things without getting into any serious trouble. Then check out some other places. Whatever you do, don't start off wheeling at the mounds.

Stay out of the mud, or be prepared to spend HOURS cleaning everything. Also expect u-joints, t-case, diffs, tranny, and possibly your enging to never work right again. Mounds mud is the nastiest shit known on this planet. Kinda like herpes. Easy to get and it never goes away.

oh, but it has the most unique smell

Like others have said, check out the trail rides section and plan to go somewhere where others will be. Mud Mania is a great way to get introduced to the Mounds---lots of folks will be there that know the place well and can lead you around to obstacles you want to try. Also there will most always be someone ahead of you that tries it so you can see what to expect and decide if you wanna try it out.

Almost every obstacle has a "pass through" point where you can opt out if you are a stocker or not up to days of cleaning up that aromatic mud from every nook and cranie of your rig.

What ever you do, don't wheel alone. If you get into trouble you won't have anyone to help you out. Oh, and tow points are a bonus---damage is always fun to talk about, unless it is the result of stupidity.

Chris, as others have mentioned, be careful at the mounds, but don't not go. You will meet a lot of people and get a feel for what your jeep is capable of. Stay out of the water and deep holes, be ware that small holes don't always look small and big holes don't always look big. But do go with a group and tag along and learn. Keep your eyes and ears open for a run to grayling or the badlands, you will enjoy it a little more.

Ok, thanks for all the advice, if I can get out of doing mulch this weekend, I think I'll drive up there and observe. Also I've only met 2 guys on this site so if you see me in a silver 4door please say hi.

The advice given to me by a fellow member here about the Mounds.

Don't go in any mudhole you don't see anyone else go in first.
