normally no, but it is growing today. As I've told many a board member in the past, you do not win members/clubs to your ranks being confrontational. This is one reason members/clubs have left. As a general rules, always putting the burden on the other person is no way to get them to come forward and volunteer their time, energy, or money. GLFWDA has never displayed a "welcoming" atttitude towards myself or others that I have encouraged to join. It's always felt like those charities you donate to one year and they constantly barrage and batter you to do more. And yet, some of the best people I know are in GL.

I rarely posted on M-J and had an account for three years.

I am now the Recording Secretary for GLFWDA and have never "cut anyone down" on this site. Nor have I ever "whored my position as Rec. Sec. in here" out of respect for Kelly.

The "generaliztions" need to stop. I have NEVER been hounded by a single GLFWDA "to do more".

As for "welcoming attitudes", I've never met you Lothos, so therefore, I won't judge you. You might want to make that a two way street.

Given this post ill add to this some of the statements that have been made to me , some i agree with some i may not .

Regards to GLFWD

1. They can not except crticism and that is how we learn where were making errors .

That one i have to agree with , seems any time i made a comment or suggestion i was offered to step up and do it my self instead of an open ear to listen .

2. Iv attended some things , felt like a high school click . I just didnt feel wellcome .

3. Theres several oganizations i can join nothing convinced me there better then the next one .

4. They dont seem very active to me .

Now im not sure if that person meant politically , or not many runs or what . Its really a bad thing to see DOA go down even though i didnt attend the run . I know when i joined GL it was due to runs that were a blast to attend and that is why i orginally joined . Im also aware of how difficult it has become to put on a large event on public land so i have no suggestions on how to overcome this .

Ladies and gentelman of GLFWD dont bother to flame me , instead take the above as what it is . Constructive criticisim from which one can improve .

Ill make one personal suggestion to the organization . The spring fling is next week end , the pig gig is in the fall . I have personally invited GLFWD members in the past and ill do so again . Come show the wheeling community that arrives here how damn friendly you all can be .

I think you are too sensitive. (this is my personal opinion and not that of glfwda)

aside from that, glfwda is there for all of the public four wheeling in michigan (as demonstrated in recent threads) when you go to a nice restaurant and parking is valet only, do you tip the guy?

why would you take advantage of opportunities that the members of glfwda have worked hard to preserve without helping fund the cause?

GLFWDA Has made many Good Turns in the 4 wheel drive world. The Problum with the Ass. is Confort to new people. It is hard to see being on the inside looking out> (and this is just me trying to help not putting GLFWDA down) WhiteRhino is making great efforts to make people feel more confortable with the group over the last couple of years and think he is doing a great Job! I have been around long enough to see where the head banging continues due to some ego's. (NOT pointing at anyone)

I truely hope in the future people can get over what mistakes have been made and move forward for the sport of 4x4ing so we all can work as a team.

(On a side note these events we hold here on our property we try to make everyone feel welcome so the different Clubs, Groups etc. can have a weekend to get together and get to know each other better. West Branch is a good Center point here in Michigan. They are open for everyone to come. Having a sit down meeting with this many different Clubs-Groups would not work due to so many people wanting to be heard all at once. Weekends like this are a great operatunity in a relax atmosphere .)

Theres an example of what i just posted . Criticisim is what we can learn from . I dont think Lothos is making a personal attack on you but you seem to take it as one . There are things in the past that you and other officers of the association need to over come , namely attitiudes folks hold for a reason .

Im sure YOU didnt do the things you state you didnt do . Keep in mind some one in GL did in the past and that left a bad taste in some ones mouth . Its like listening to a wife complain about some one else . Ya just need to let them get it out of there system and not take it personal

As a member of both groups and a rank newbie at that. I have never seen any bad blood bewteen the two groups.
Hell MuddyPaws is a member in good standing here at GL. He is welcome on both groups. His GG production was well recieved.
So why does there have to be an attitude ?

Are we not both trying to do the same thing ? Open new trails. Keep the ones we have open. Have friends to wheel with and buddies to BS with ?

How about the recent Maxton issue on DI ? That was one we both agreed on.

Just because the GLFWDA assoc. is somewhat "structured" doesnt mean they are anti social or stodgy.

Hell the GLFWDA Boondocker magazine is worth the price of memebership.

Bury the hatchet and let`s all move along on a common cause.

From the GL 4 wheel drivers. Whom ever they be. Or group they belong to.
Your kidding right?

I guess I shouldn't include an entire group for the opinions of a few, as you say. But as I tried to say on GLFWDA, they shouldn't either.

Be careful questioning my attitude or desire to help keep trails open or events from closing.
As I said over there, time is not something I have alot of, but the ability donate/support the those efforts is something I can and do do quite often.

If you would like, I can give you a list with member number for most, that I support.

Like I said, you have a large untapped resorce here, us it.
Of course your going to find alot of younger members here and some old, that wont give a damn what your trying to do. But what do you have to lose.

CC,
Though we have never meet we have shared a number of PM`s. We both love and live for the sport of 4 wheeling. Be it on the `puter or in the woods.

GL4x4 and GLFWDA are the two groups I was speaking of.

I carry both stickers on my YJ and am damm proud of it !!

I've never considered this a personal attack, nor did I take it as one. I am merely showing all of you "RockyTop's perspective". I have no attitude, I want to wheel. I have VERY THICK skin.

My Jeep was towed by Sam after I threw a rod in West Branch on the way home from SnoFari. I left my Jeep at your yard for a week until I could pick it up. I thanked both of you in my post back in Jan.

This nit picking crap is the problem. Even more so, you have adults who are acting like children throughout this BS. Meanwhile the DNR laughs it's collective ass off, because we're making it easier for them to close trails. This is the shit that get's me pissed off. Because that means my 5 year old son may not enjoy this hobby, as much I will.

Nope, I have been around long enough to read these posts about GLFWDA and I think you are one of the GLFWDA member/officer(?) who I notice that posts like everyone else, and is generally laid back and ready to wheel....

Personally I think GLFWDA as a whole needs to exist and needs to find ways to get the general wheeling public to support it. That is what this thread has started to become, a sounding board for constructive criticism.

Other then that I think any time you add politics and clubs to a hobby you ruin the fun and add .

I got the cold shoulder from GLFWDA at one point in time, after trying very hard to increase awareness, since then I have not wheeled much, so I am not an active member.
