Default so I took my kids to get orv safety certs...

.. I was not impressed.

the intentions of the state seem to be to get everyone certified. they even gave one to me and my wife. the class had 91 people and was spread accrossed the whole one side of the dealership. the only redeming thing the instructor did was to tell everyone to call ahead to get any up dates in rules changes and what was legal for the areas you intended to ride. the majority of the time was spent on how you were going to be fined and how you could have the machines taken from you. it was a tree huggers dream come true. I couldn't believe the fact the old sheriff deputy telling people he was riding forest roads and pipe line trails all over his area of Gaylord and that it was legal???? The worst was when the DNR guy got up to speak, they couldn't have found a more conseded s.o.b. short of Jenny herself. he was telling people all the stuff they couldn't do and just about everything they did was illegal and he was going to be there to write them a ticket..gee a wonder the states going broke?
and there was no hands on. it was such a huge crowd they would still be giving rides a week later.

Topwop, you know that phrase " you get what you pay for?" ...I'm glad it was a free class paid for by the dealer.

Your kids are lucky, they have you to teach them the right way. I feel bad for the true newbies.

I have though about talking to the Deputy who taught the class. he was teaching it while reading the book. he was told by the DNR not to use any of the old info he had. Plus this was the same guy who taught Boaters safety...we're all gunna die!
