Default Tweak's 83 Cj-7

So I am finally getting around to posting my rig (I have lots more info at my website www.kellyandrobert.us/jeep) since i got my GL4x4 stickers. Anyways, I just finished up some winter projects on it after I broke a few things last summer at silver lake. The new components include:
-Corabu Racing seats with 3 point harness
-Alum. Rad
-Currie tie rod's and ends
-Currie shackles
-New Skyjacker shocks
-Sandblasted front rails and repainted
-Finally painted the inside of the fiberglass body
... List goes on.

The Front clip off - getting ready to sand blast the front rails:

The old broken seats removed:

The front frame sand blasted and primed:

The front frame rails painted:

Putting it back together:

The front clip back on:

Here are some more pics... With the GL4x4 stickers.

She has some bigger and better plans on the way when cash flow is better such as a 4.5" lift and new 35's.
(You can check out the entire album at http://www.kellyandrobert.us/jeep/al...ork/index.html if intrested).

Digging up my old build thread to add some updates since this has changed quite a bit over the last four years.

In 2008/2009 did a SOA, swapped in a D30/AMC 20 with 4.10's locked and replaced the rear 1/4 of the frame:

Loved the SOA, but needed some new tires:

Then in late 2010 I switched over to propane with a kit from GotPropane.com. Been very happy with the performance:

After running out of propane at snofari, I built a dual tank system with the help of Pat Kinne from Creative Fab. The tanks are dropped down into the floor about 5-6 inches, and then have a lid so I can store stuff on top:

Then we took the big trip out to Moab, Ut:

Now I am swapping in a set of Scout II Dana 44's, and a TH400:

Plan is to have it running for Drummond Island this weekend. Still have lots to do, but it is looking really good thanks to the help from Pat Kinne (Creative Fab).

Hey rob,
Looks great. Seen at pats and nice work.
Only thing I have is to make sure bottom of your tank compartment is vented as propane is heavy and with it closed in would hate to see something happen if you had a small leak. I already had a valve leak on one of my tanks. Mine will stay out in open and cover will be cock pit only. Just my 2 cent.

The bottom of the tanks are wrapped in rubber to keep the dust down in the cab, but are open on the ends. Since the values are on the ends and propane will sink to the bottom it should vent out fine.

Allowing it to go out the bottom and putting a lid on top allows me to run with the full soft top, and put stuff on top.

I really like the way this is turning out. Not too big not too small. Exactly the way I plan on doing mine once I get started.

Got it finished in time for Drummond Island. Here are the new upgrades:

- TH400 Automatic Transmission
- Slightly clocked D300 with Twin Stick
- B&M Mega Shifter
- New Front drive shaft from Joint, Clutch & Gear
- Scout II D44 4.88 Front with Lockrite
- Scout II D44 4.88 Rear with Spool
- New Traction Bar from Creative Fab
- Bilstin 5150 shocks (only have front installed right now)

New Driveshafts, transmission crossmember, traction bar, etc:

New Bilstin Shocks from Ironman Offroad. These made a world of a difference! Even with a leaf sprung suspension the Bilstin's would make for a stable ride.

Posing on Drummond Island:

Going to pick up the Jeep tomorrow from Creative Fab - Pat is putting a skid plate on the bottom to protect the new investments. Also headed to Ironman Offroad to pick up some new motor mounts, and the rear Bilstin 5150 shocks. I can't wait to get the 5150s on the rear after seeing how well they have performed on the front.

Yup! I am going to pick it up tomorrow from Pat Kinne (Creative Fab). He got the skid plates done so I can go play on the rocks.

Cool stuff.
Just a note. I have same shocks, looks like same set up you have, and ran for 3 years even included Canada. Last year at R and V my front brake line hook ontop of the shock while in the twisties and of course went it came back down I had no brakes. I ended up putting a loop so it can hook the shock any longer.

Got a set of almost new 36x13.5x14 Iroks on some Allied Beadlock wheels. The tires are about 90% life left, but I will be pulling the beadlocks to replace the bolts and repaint the lock and wheel.

Looks great but I think you know why I'm laughing.

I think you owe me.

Yeah, I had to use the "Its easier to ask for forgiveness then permission" card... but for only $200 after I sold my old tires it was too hard to pass-up.

Thanks for your help guys in getting it down from "Next Year" to just a few weeks.
